I don't understand why she can't see it. He's going to lock her in his basement I'm sure.

<shudder>

yellowbrickrd Fri 15-Feb-13 19:23:53

I wish I could believe that they intended him to be creepy. If only he would lock her in the basement and put an end to our misery! I honestly think we're supposed to find all this fun and charming and sweet.

And just what was all that 'comedy' scottish stuff?? Aaaarrgghh!

Yep he's creepy alright. And needy. And desperate.

What on earth is Lillian playing at? I don't understand what she wants. I don't think she knows. Not well written at all at the moment.

And I wish someone would slap Pip. Only Tom is more irritating. If anybody needs to do a runner while they still can, it's Brenda.

Oh and Elizabeth & Iftiqar??

MarianForrester Sun 17-Feb-13 18:59:41

"My ex said I was controlling"......aargh, knew he was deeply creepy.

OliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 18-Feb-13 23:28:42

So creepy.

stealthsquiggle Mon 18-Feb-13 23:30:50

Is that how you spell ifti-whstsit? [ignorant]?

R4 Tue 19-Feb-13 09:23:58

I would have guessed that ifti-whatsit had a 'q' in it somewhere, but the Archers A-Z spells it 'Iftikar'.

I really hope that LL and Ifty don't become an item. After two years of her going on and on and on about how devastated, distraught etc she is about Nigel, I am not yet ready to move on.
I expect to be disappointed though and am looking foward [sarcasm alert] to Freddie getting confused about Ifty's role (cricket coach? Maths tutor? mother's paramour? replacement dad?)

Ooo I find P and L thing so annoying but not noticed he was creepy (don't listen every day ) so will be listening carefully with interest now !

SenoritaViva Thu 21-Feb-13 14:43:02

Paul is grim. But frankly pusscat has a pretty poor taste in men.

I'm wondering if puss is going to finish it with Paul and then he'll blackmail her into staying with her.

I think this massive investment is going to be a failure - Jennifer is going to be right... then Matt will find out about the affair and leave Lillian high and dry with all the debts as he's only a 'consultant'.

Pip is highly irritating, actually so much so I think that this part is quite well written.

Tom makes my skin crawl, errgh. I bet he has stumpy sausagey fingers (too many of Peggy's cakes)

Rocknrollnerd Fri 22-Feb-13 23:47:18

My money is on the flat he's rented being an Amside one...

And yes he is a grim, annoying twat grin

PrincessFiorimonde Sun 24-Feb-13 11:42:31

I used to think Paul was just dull, but I agree he's pretty creepy now. I really don't find this storyline very believable.

However, I'll go one further than SenoritaVita and say that not only is this big new investment going to be a failure, but Matt already knows this. He realises that Lilian is seeing someone else, so his revenge is for her to lose all her money.

R4 Sun 24-Feb-13 22:50:22

Hmm, interesting theory but I don't buy it. Business is all about trust and confidence; Matt won't want to damage his standing by another failure, revenge against Lillian would not be as important as his reputation. He got burned by Yvonne in the divorce so I'd bet that he has some 'heads I win, tails you lose' set-up with pusscat.
Lillian is being pathetic about Paul. A few years ago she was dreading growing old alone and Matt was her salvation. Now, aparently, she is prepared to risk that security for a fling. If she totally abandoned Matt for Paul then I could understand but to throw everything away for a tawdry affair is stupid. She cuts a very sad, needy figure.

The idea of JD being a financial expert makes me grin. We had her quizzing Lillian at the same time as Peggy was asking Tom about his plans. Both scenes make me larf. Lillian and Tom both flannelled and said 'trust me, I know what I'm doing' and neither offered any concrete evidence by way of figures. Dunno why either JD or Peggy were supposed to be convinced.hmm

HearMyRoar Thu 28-Feb-13 19:43:38

So... Lillian said he's looking tired and he claims he is feeling absolutely fine. Me thinks he doth protest too much... Surely this is classic code for 'dying of terrible and incurable illness'

<<nods sagely>> ah I see where this is going now grin

seeker Thu 28-Feb-13 20:48:58

Just came to say Paul's obviously going to peg it soon, you mark my words. But I see I've been beaten to it!

HumphreyCobbler Thu 28-Feb-13 20:52:36

Yes, agree he is fatally ill.

I expect he will need a kidney and Lillian will have to try and persuade Matt to donate as Paul's only living relative grin

HearMyRoar Thu 28-Feb-13 21:04:55

Oh my god! (And that is not a phrase I use lightly) the kidney idea is blooming genius Humph grin

CuttedUpPear Fri 01-Mar-13 00:27:16

Kidney yes! It's so obvious now!

PrincessFiorimonde Fri 01-Mar-13 08:30:48

Love the kidney idea. Even without that, like the thought that if Paul pegs it, how does Lilian explain her grief?

(That last sentence sounds so heartless and bad taste. Just have to remind myself I'm not wishing ill on a real person ...)

R4, I forgive you for shooting my theory down in flames with your well-reasoned argument.

ppeatfruit Mon 04-Mar-13 09:24:34

Also princess if Paul pegs it how would Lil explain a flat and a painting suddenly acquired?

ppeatfruit Mon 04-Mar-13 09:27:00

i didn't hear Paul say "my ex said i was too controlling" very interesting grin he's a dead creep then grin.

DystopianReality Mon 04-Mar-13 09:32:44

I could shoot Pip (and Tom) but Pip would get the first bullet in the head.

Also, I'm sick of the crooning over Bethany. I heard how much of a water baby she was three times in three days last week ( not sure how it happend but same episode on Thurs/ Fri and Sunday).

Love the kidney idea

WishIdbeenatigermum Mon 04-Mar-13 09:34:40

grin at the plot line of Paul's kidney!

NormaStanleyFletcher Mon 04-Mar-13 09:36:57

Kidney idea is genius

ppeatfruit Mon 04-Mar-13 09:39:27

Pip's just angling to move out into the empty place that was left by Emmuh and Ed.

ppeatfruit Mon 04-Mar-13 09:41:13

She's 20 FFS I didn't tell my family what I was doing at that age (admittedly she's helping on the farm) grin
