Kitchen colours help!

We are renovating our house and I thought I had decided on my kitchen months ago...but at the critical time I'm
having a last minute panic and need some help.

Its an edwardian house and the kitchen is quite dark although it's west facing as it's windows open into an old veranda so natural light is limited.

I need to choose cupboard colour, worktops and flooring today or tomorrow as I am holding the process up.

The only definite is that we have a British racing green rangemaster to go in the inglenook and all our small appliances are cream and we don't want to change them. I'm going to have the ikea laxarby wooden kitchen so I can paint it to whichever colour I choose.

Please help I fear our marriage may depend on me making this decision soon!

I would either go for nearly white and maybe a strong beige as an accent. I think cream units look a bit old fashioned, and somewhat the same as your appliances, You can get other accessories to make a splash of colour. I would consider granite work tops if you can afford them in beige/white tones. If not, maybe an oak worktop. Have a look on Houzz.com for pix of kitchens. You may get inspiration there. Have you not looked at the brochures of expensive kitchens on line to get an idea of paint colours that might suit? Look at John Lewis of Hungerford, Cotteswood, Martin Moore, Second Nature, and Neptune have a new kitchen in white. Flooring, I would go engineered wood or ceramic tiles that suit the age and style of the kitchen. I am a big fan of Porcelanosa tiles as they are large format with less grout, therefore much easier to keep clean.

Thanks so much MillyMollyMama that was similar to the look I was thinking of, I think tonight is going to be spent reading lots of house magazines and tomorrow visiting lots of tile shops.

We have been looking at similar colours and I have chosen a granite called ivory fantasy which is lovely and might suit you too. Feeling worried though as have chosen "vanilla" coloured units which is cream really...also having engineered oak floor.

Sorry! I sound like a "fashionista" and I am not! Vanilla is not cream!!! Marmite - your kitchen sounds lovely.

Thank you MMM - fingers crossed that it does look good in the end
