Accessorizing a tan leather sofa

We have inherited a tan leather sofa and have put it in our 'back room' (living room-cum-playroom). I am going to get a few cheap-ish bits to brighten the room up (currently plain cream walls and wooden floors) but am hopeless at this kind of thing.

What colour/s should I go for? we need some cushions, a throw, a rug, a light shade for the main light i the room ad possibly a blind or curtain. The room is quite dark, so needs to be warm and cheerful.

Any budding interior designers fancy giving me some tips?

TIA!

Sorry - I was dared to post it.

Sorry I'm not great at accessories btw. But hopefully have bumped the thread and someone will come along...

FunnysInTheGarden · 04/10/2011 15:36

I think that JM would look great draped over a tan leather sofa. Or she could just stand at the side and serve canapes?

FunnysInTheGarden · 04/10/2011 15:39

or the chidlren could use her as a sort of rocking horse?

Seriously, your sofa sounds lovely. If you're thinking blinds, wooden floors, cushions, maybe this look

I know it's pretty "done", but i still like the union jack cushions and I think they look great with leather.

Then you can accessorise the rest with red and blue - bingo Grin

In my mind, picturing what you describe (tan leather sofa, cream walls and wooden floors) I envisage some bright red accessories (rug, cushions). But I do like bold colours.

MardyBra · 04/10/2011 20:12

Not sure about the Union jack stuff. Think that look is over now.

Bumping for the evening crowd as I'm still feeling a little guilty for the thread hijack.

We have ordered a tan leather sofa so I am watching this with interest.

Ours is<a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgresq=tan+leather+sofa&num=10&um=1&hl=en&biw=1235&bih=779&tbm=isch&tbnid=2lx6IfLkiMPbWM:&imgrefurl=www.english-sofas.co.uk/modern-sofas/items/montiverdi-leather-sofa.html&docid=XJ2Fcaenr8_QhM&w=400&h=250&ei=XFuLTrX6KdKu8QPc3-3XBA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=692&vpy=308&dur=3249&hovh=177&hovw=284&tx=117&ty=60&sqi=2&page=1&tbnh=129&tbnw=217&start=0&ndsp=23&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"> this colour,We didn't want a brown sofa as our living room is quite dark. i'm just planning on cream with oak, we have oak flooring being laid soon, I might try and get some navy blue accessories.

I dont like the union jack stuff either, it's all a bit past its best now.

WorzselMummage · 04/10/2011 20:22

FFS!

It's tan, sort of sandy colour.

FunnysInTheGarden · 04/10/2011 20:56

at least it wasn't Jodie Marsh.

And don't feel guilty Mardy you and I now know more about interior decorating than earlier today. For example, I didn't know Union Jacks were passé.

I have 2 small boys and so all thoughts of a stylish interior are on hold for aprox 10 years. Mind you World of Interiors have just asked me if I would like to subscribe again, so somewhere in the dim and distant past my house had aspirations. Now its just crayon all over the Farrow and Ball..............

WorzselMummage · 05/10/2011 10:16

I can't imagine sitting on JM would be very comfy now and her creosote would rub off on your clothes and it'd stink!
