Has anyone ever used Swivel UK furniture?

There are a few things on the website I really love, but I can't really find a day to go to London to take a look at the stock and I'm concerned it might not be as good quality as it appears.

Delivery/returns charges pretty effing steep too, which will be a problem if I need to return stuff.

Anyone had good/bad experiences?

Yes, me - they were fab. I have four Eames dining chairs and an Eames rocker from them. Arrived the next day by courier and are great. If you ring and have a chat with them they are v knowledgeable about mid-century modern furniture and what the different repro versions are. Well at least they were in Jan 09 when I got my stuff!

Oooh, thanks Barbara, it's the Eames diners I was interested in too. Just concerned because I quite liked the look of the Dwell versions in their catalogue, but in real life they looked v.cheap. Do you know if yours look very like the Eames ones you can get in Conran/SCP etc?

They do to me! - I have the white ones with pale wood legs and metal 'struts'. But they are made of smooth fibreglass, not 'grainy' fibreglass like the SCP ones, and not the matt bobbly plastic like the Vitra ones. I talked to them about that before I bought them and was convinced it was an acceptable variation. Definitely better than the Dwell ones IMO. I think Vitra ones (e.g from Couch Potato Company) are possibly the most authentic, but I was on a budget..will try and post a photo on my profile.

Just looked at them again and the struts on the diners are black - but I chose that - you get options...

Have put a couple of pics up - not exactly close ups but you get the general picture. We've had them nearly two years and apart from having to tighten a screw now and then they've been fine. If I'd had the cash I'd possibly have gone for Vitra, but no probs with Swivel service etc. I think it depends how many furniture snobs you're likely to have round...!

Oh wow, your house is GORGEOUS!

Love the room, and the chairs look fab. I'll give them a call tomorrow to talk about leg options! Thanks so much.

Thanks - hope it goes well. (House somewhat flattered by wide-angle photos taken just after we'd had it renovated and before dcs wrecked it...!)

Awful! Unprofessional with no customer service ethic. I bought 8 Wegner wishbone chairs from Swivel UK a couple of years ago and so far 3 have broken. Each time its the same problem, a deep split appears in the wood. When I contacted Swivel they were totally unhelpful and did nothing other than suggest I bought some wood glue. They were not at all bothered that their product is sub-standard. They were also very disorgansied around the delivery when we orginally bought them.
