Recommend me a fountain pen for a 9 yr old please!

DS1 is keen to get a pen and is currently using mine. Anyone got one they'd recommend?

Gaussgirl - Paperchase do disposable ones which are v. cheap. I recommend it on the grounds that my son loses everything that is not physically attached to his person. Personally, I really love them and they come in a variety of ink colours.
On the other hand, my father was v. clear that the thing about a fountain pen is that the nib moulds to your writing and is thus a thing that should be for life. Biros were a no-no on the grounds that they produced bad handwriting habits. So, pencils for his children until old enough to treasure pens.
I don't know if that's true about handwriting and I don't know how the disposable fountain pen fares handwriting-wise.

Our school says only Lamy or Parker, as all the cheaper ones quickly become very scratchy and affect their writing.

We got a nice Lamy one for about £7.
I think the cheaper ones are false economy really.

My 9 yr old is doing v well with her lamy pen.

I got one in Smiths a couple of weeks ago. Reduced to 79p. Fine for a child imo.

Those new Berol handwriting pens are good - DD likes hers and they make left or right handed versions. £4-5 in Rymans.
