Will children currently in reception still be graded 1 to 9 on EYFS criteria at the end of this academic year or has the grading system changed?

Does any one know? Thanks

The short answer is no!
They will be graded as emerging, expected or exceeding.
Teachers will also have to give a description of each child's style of learning.

nothing's changed as far as I know.

Chigertick is correct.

Thanks. is emerging, expected or exceeding as it was previously then a few years ago?

Is 6 the expected level and above 6 exceeding and below emerging?

No brazilproperty.
There is a completely new profile (no scores) and the child is assessed against each of the new Early Learning Goals and awarded emerging/expected/exceeding.

Ah I read the answer as no the system has not changed rather than no they will not be graded 1 to 9!! Thank you mrz for clarifying.

Please can you direct me to a website that explains the new system?

Is this new for 2013 or was it used in 2012?

Teachers what do you think of the new system?

The foundation years/ 4children sites have info and you can download the eyfs profile handbook and guidance for 2013.

This is new for this year but was trialled in some pilot areas last year.

I'm rather cynical about the change from numbers to this system. It means that, along with only have 17 goals, the results from now on cant be compared to previous data. So any changes made to the curriculum/ staff ratios/ funding etc will not easily be linked to a fall in achievement.

I just think its sad (and have done before now) that there is so much quantifying of young children's development. Because even though there are no numbers there will still be bar graphs aplenty to show how x cohort did in physical and how boys v girls achieved etc etc. hmm
