So DS1 is "at the higher end of average, but isn't really working to his full potential"........

because he spends so much time on presentation on not enough thought into the content of what he's doing.

Had his parent teacher interview today at school. He seems to have settled into Junior school ok - but she did say that she was certain he could do a lot better than he actually does.

Usually I'd think it was just "teacher talk" - but I happen to see it a lot at home. When he's at home most of the time he does "average" stuff, but then when he stops fretting about perfection he does things really well.

He also still won't put his hand up and participate, unless he's certain of the answer - he won't take any risks (same as at home - he'll just say nothing if he thinks the answer will be "wrong")

So - how can I encourage him to take more risks...and cocentrate more on content that presentation???
