Preschool education

Can anyone recommend preschools in Andover?

We're moving to the area at the beginning of September, and my DS1 will be 3.4. So, some half days of preschool are what I am looking for him.

DH will be at home, so fulltime nursery etc... not really needed. Are there any decent kindergartens around there, or playschools?
I've found a few good primary schools and will put him on the waiting list, but most do not have the preschool as well.

And, having lived abroad for a bit, can someone let me know if this is free within the state system, or subsidised? Or is it as pricey as private nurseries? How does it work???

Hi

Andover Baptist Pre school has excellent reputation. Humpty Dumpties is very good and I know had some afternoon slots when my friend enquired recently. Someone recently mentioned one called 325 to me (she may have meant that was the road it was on) Am away till Thurs but will get numbers for you then. You are entitiled to nursery vouchers which works out at 2.5 days / 5 half days a week.

There is 1 state nursery in andover at the moment, in Hampshire the state nurseries tend to be in areas of poverty but the vouchers offer good alternatives.

Where abouts are you going to be living?

Will post again when back.
