i am 4 days over due with dc 2 and have a homebirth planned. saw mw yesterday for membrane sweep but she was unable to do it as my cervix is still posterior. so fed up and now worried that i wont get the homebirth i planned as its likely that the baby will have passed meconium by now. i have tried everything to get going but nothin is workin. any suggestions would be appreciated.

I didn't want your thread to be ignored, gracie. Sex is the only thing that medical people think has any small effect but you probably know that. (And I know what an awful idea it probably sounds.) Try some clary sage oil in a bath, that seemed to work for me once. And keep gravity on your side - walk as much as you can.

Best of luck.

hello!

plus 5 days with dc2 here had a sweep yesterday and nothing doing I feel your pain and wonder if this will ever end.... just wanted you to know you're not alone x Am being a bit horrible to everyone and have now switched the phone off!

natapillar · 07/01/2010 16:27

i feel ur pain ladies! all 3 of my DD's were overdue(10 days,4 days and 12 days!). DC4 due today and no signs whatsoever of it getting a move on.
try sex or be as active as possible. my nan swears by scrubbing the kitchen floor lol

good luck and fingers crossed

I was overdue with all mine too - over a week with them all - and I have to say that sex didn't work (I was like a woman possessed during my pregnancies, couldn't get enough! ) but I think being active certainly a good idea so whatever you can do to keep on the move and encourage contractions has got to be a good thing... as to how much it will achieve but worth a try!

Are you walking around as much as possible? I'd stay indoors though

Try this - it worked wonders with my 2nd, I did it for a whole day (follow the instructions on the link) and the next day a stretch and sweep was easy for my MW.

I was 22 days (yes, really) late with my first (she was due the week before Christmas - her birthday is on Monday) I think refusing to answer the phone is a very good option.

Why are you worried about meconium? I am about 38 weeks (I refuse to count too carefully anymore) and I know that my mw will happily deliver me at home way post-dates as long as there are no contraindications.

Anyway, you're probably in labour already...enjoy!

carrielou2007 · 07/01/2010 21:25

I'm with you, due date today and not so much as a twinge...

My daughter was over 2 weeks late and I think I will go round the twist before then even in this deep snow...

MumNWLondon · 07/01/2010 21:35

Why are you worried about meconium? Presumably DRs will want to induce after 14 days which would rule out homebirth? You are only 4 days over... sti

Really recommend keeping active - went for a run which seemed to bring on labour with DD and then on the day I went into labour with DS swam about 30 lengths, following by big (hard) walk on Hampstead Heath - I got BHs whenever I did any exercise (from around 38 weeks) so tried to keep active to keen them going.

wasabipeanut · 07/01/2010 21:57

I read somewhere that jasmine and evening primrose oil were meant to be helpful but I haven't tested this. Yet.

I tried clary sage last time to try and encourage things along after waters broke and the effect was nil. The syntocinon drip worked though.

natapillar · 10/01/2010 23:31

am currently on the floor on all fours looking at ways to bring labour on naturally.....
my friend says ''get on all fours and encourage the baby to come out''. worth a try!

shame this is what got me into this situation lol :p
