Just had a positive pg test - bit overwhelmed (but happy!)

Well, as the title says after 2 negative tests (one by me and one by Dr), have had 2 positive tests on CD37 (one via cheapie Ebay one with feint line and one by Clearblue digital). I am feeling very relieved as have had a few health issues the last 2 weeks (car accidents and abdo pain) so nice to know I definitely am. Feeling very excited, but apart from sore boobs I don't quite feel pg and still have cramps like AF about to start. Any advice on coming to terms with this early bit gratefully received!

Hi, congratulations

Cramps and sore boobs are good signs I think. Have you had any nausea? I got bfp this week too - am the same as you plus dog tired and a bit nauseous on and off.

No useful advice for you but I guess it will sink in over the next week or two. Have you told anyone yet?

Congrats to you too bluebell6

Yes - have had a bit of nausea, but on and off and also a bit funny about what food I fancy (but some of that could be due to the Gastroenteritis). Have been talking to DH about who to tell - we think we will tell parents this eve, but no one else just yet. Def will tell close friends before 12 weeks though as we would want their support if something went wrong, but not wider circle/ work people/ relatives. It's a bit weird after wanting it for so long and then keeping it to yourself and also keep wondering whether to test again in case we made a mistake, but apparently ClearBlue tests are 99% accurate.

Thanks Upsydaisy83 . Did your cramp feel just like period cramps e.g. quite strong? I am using my wheat bag, but am a bit taken aback how strong they are.

Congratulations! My advice would be try to relax and enjoy it (I'd previously had problems conceiving and spent the first 12 weeks in a pretty much continual state of worry).
Cramps - mine were quite strong and lasted a few weeks (was convinced that my period was about to start any minute).
Some light brown spotting is often normal (although obviously seek advice from GP if concerned).
Boob pain can come and go (again, I freaked when mine suddenly disappeared).
Take it easy - I couldn't believe just how tired I felt.
Don't worry too much if your eating habits go a bit bonkers - I had visions of being perfect mum who only ate greens & fruit when in reality all I craved was doughnuts and crisps.
My teeth became very sensitive for a few weeks (solved it by Sensodine toothpaste).
Finally - enjoy the sensation of having your own special secret!

Thanks very much echops! Getting used to the cramps now and rather random eating habits. How pg are you?

Hi WYG
Ive been funny about food too and had strong cramps over weekend, was getting pretty worried on sunday night - looked back in my diary from previous pregnancy and definately had them then too!

Gastroenteritis you poor thing! You must eat whatever you feel like (within reason). Have you had any strange cravings yet?

Im finding it hard keeping quiet, have told my sister and quite a few friends. Not telling family til christmas. I agree its weird after wanting it for so long and then keeping it to yourself. I tested again yesterday. We had ttc for over a year and also had failed cycle of ivf so I just wanted to see those two lines again It is incredibly rare to get a false positive and with all the symptoms you describe it doesnt sound that there is any doubt

When will you be 12wks? I cant wait til early Jan!!

Hi echops and bluebell6

I am due 22 July and will be 12 weeks on 7 Jan. Am getting more used to the idea everyday as is DH. Just wading into the minefield of whether to have the swine flu jab... Just read the DOH pamphlet and it seems fairly convincing. I am having an independant midwife and she advises it's up to me, but wouldn't recommend until after first 3 months when baby stopped forming and not unless I think I will be in contact with possible carriers. Trouble is I travel on trains several times a week with my job so am not just sitting in an office all day.

Feeling fine apart from getting hot in bed and had a bit of a splurge on fruit as I know I may go off it soon! Also ordered some sick bags for when I am travelling!

Also found out today that didn't have gastroenteritis, but have tested for a nasty bacterium found in your stomach and have been prescribed 2 x different antibiotics and some other tables to take for a week! I am very glad to know what was causing my pain as it was constant and very severe for over a week, but am cross when was admitted to hospital they didn't test for it.

It's hard not telling people - today I told my physio as have been having acupuncture for a back injury and it was the first time I had told someone face to face (told our family on the phone as they live a long way away) and it was so nice!!

Many congratulations you guys!
We were trying for 6 months, but I was having period-like cramps and bleeding after intercourse so was expecting my period to arrive. When my boobs started a funny tingling I did a test and found out I was 6 weeks gone! My test was a cheap one from Access Diagnostics btw.
We told immediate family initially and my bosses at work because I needed time off travel for a scan to determine bleeding. Was brilliant when we could finally tell everyone though!
I am now 34 weeks and can't wait to meet the wee one - hope your pregnancies run as smoothly as mine has xxx
