Well, can I? Other than your objections to them on the grounds of taste etc, are there any heath reasons why I can't? I just want to draw over a small faded old one placed somewhere discrete. Nothing mad like a full back tattoo. Is there anything I should be aware of?

no! A good tattooist shouldn't do it. You don't want to run the risk of infection.

I have done a quick google search, and mostly the answer is no! As Meglet says, a tattooist is unlikely to tattoo you due to possible infection and harm from chemicals.
