really agonising pain earlier today (26 weeks)

so bad I think it actually made me sick (not sure if sick was due to pain or something else)

pain down lower back and round front, just above pelvis

phoned mw and she said try paracetemol, bed and hot water bottle for an hour to see if it subsides (she thought maybe be muscular spasm) - it did and is a LOT better now, just a tiny bit sore

what the hell was it, anyone know? 3rd pregnancy, so I can't think it'd be stretchigng pain - it was really really painful (and I do have high pain threshold, have had two labours with no gas /air even) - it was horrid, thought was in prem labour

any ideas what it could have been? I think the baby may have moved as kicks feel different - could that cause that much pain?

I'm also on 3rd preg and have had really intense 'contractions' - I can only presume it's Braxton Hicks but it's all in my back and quite prolonged. I worried about it too - am 23 weeks.

thanks mummy2t, I do think the baby turned and lay in weird position, esp as I am sure I had a hand or something presisng on my cervix - it made me really jump!

surely the baby can't be big enough already to cause such discomfort??

yes, SH, I'd have thought they were BH too, except it was in the back and one side, never esp it before like that

i am not sure to be honest Dinny, i'd chek with Mw to see what she thinks, i cant remember what stage i was at when bubba did his full turn, think it could have been later than 26 w

I'm 22 weeks and I had a similar problem at the start of the week. It started early hours of Sunday morning, couldn't sleep from then on, and continued into Monday. I couldn't go to work on Monday, I would have had to crawl to the bus stop on my hands and knees (plus I was suffering from lack of sleep). Went to the docs to check I hadn't got an infection/kidney problem and then put it down to muscle/ligament pain, much to the concern of the GP who went to check this seemed reasonable with another doctor before she let me go.
I had this with my first pregnancy and ended up spending a night in hsopital with it. This time I assumed it was the same thing so I didn't panic.

CM, I had similar in pg number two, and spent a night in hospital - they presumed it was a uti then and gave me antibiotics but never tested positive in urine test

hopefully it is just ligament pain - hasn't happened again (touch wood!)
