Terrible skin in early pregnancy - anyone else suffering too?

Hi - I'm between 10 and 12 weeks pregnant (waiting for scan to determine exact date) - and for the last 8 weeks my skin has just exploded with spots. Combined with extreme sickness, it's left me feeling really low :( anyone else had this experience? It was the same with my first child, and lasted throughout the duration of that pregnancy. All over my chin, jawline, forehead, neck, and also chest too. So depressing. Where is the radiant skin I was hoping for!? Is there anything I can do?

I too have had the skin of a teenager during my pregnancy. It began to calm down around 24 wks, I think, and now (at 34 wks) I only get occasional spots. But, yes, it sucks! I'm really not glowing and I feel like a lumbering wildebeest.

I had to stop the skin meds i took when we started trying. My skin got really bad for first 5mths. Now 35 wks and i still have bad skin. It has been the least of my worries what with hg continuing even now and spd.
Just don't do what i do and pick them, i also find sudocrem helps take the redness out if them if i use it overnight.
Sorry i can't give you a more positive reply

Thank ladies, it's helpful to know I'm not the only one. Sounds as though this will probably continue throughout the pregnancy, especially if its like my last one. Going to the coast tomorrow so hopefully a bit of sea air, and not having to wear make up every day, will help! Thanks again!

With my first pregnancy I embraced the Ming and wore my zits with pride and teamed with cold sore clusters. Glowing I was not! Wink

I had the same in my first pregnancy, the dr prescribed some kind of steroid cream (obviously safe for the baby) and that helped, didn't completely get rid of it but did make it noticeably better! And of course it's free during pregnancy so worth trying, 12+2 now and skin is turning that way again so I shall be getting myself some more!!

Yes! I broke out like a pizza from weeks 6 until 8. Not a pretty sight! i'm in my 10th week and it has thankfully stopped. But I know someone else who was covered in spots throughout!

LouiseD29 · 17/02/2013 22:12

You have my sympathy, and empathy! 15 weeks and big horrible spots around my jawline and on my neck - yuck! Thank god for make-up, but when is this 'glow' going to start, eh????

I've had dry, itchy skin all the way through pregnancy. Been backwards and forwards to the doctors for different creams and emollients. Your skin can dry out so it's important to moisturise ( which I hate!) but helps with blotchy dry skin. Not had too much of a problem with spots but that's also common! Keep smiling, it's all worth it in the end! Xx

Vitamin B6 will help with the acne.

I ended up with my eczema spreading all over my face at the beginning of my pregnancy it was awful, it's settled down a bit now at 18 weeks but my skin all over is a lot drier than normal. I have no stretch marks on my tummy from my previous two pregnancies so am making sure I cover myself in moisturiser all the time.

I was the same and the only thing that fixed mine was Sudocrem slathered on really thickly over night. Works miracles honestly.

TinkyPeet · 19/02/2013 00:30

I look a bit like a teenage boy that's just started shaving! Spots all over my chin and jaw, and not even little ones either! Great big dirty beggars that last forever and no amount of face masks/sudacrem will make them piss off :( I'm 18+ and have had them the whole way so far :(
