Hi im 9 weeks pregnant with my second LO and since tuesday ive been feeling my baby move! Im in total shock as first time round I didnt experience this until 16 weeks, is this normal or could my due date be wrong? aslo ive seemed to have grown a very large bump in the past week, I was putting it down to ibs bloating as ive been off food so its not that ive been pigging out, any advise would be brill xx

Have you had a scan yet? Does it feel like actual kicking or light bubbly movement (which you might, just might, feel that early!)... Big for dates... Twins???

I felt my first at 13 weeks and my third at almost 12 weeks (2nd at 16 weeks).

No-one ever believed me but no idea how they coud deny what I could feel.

my dating scan isnt booked for another 4 weeks, its like a light tapping feeling very constant, then it will move and do it some where else, im 100% certain about what it is I feel it moving every time I sit down, lie down in the bath on the toilet you name it I can feel it! Was worried last week about how all of a sudden I had a big belly and my partner said it was prob my ibs so i never though much of it but when I felt the kicking Ive been questioning my self every since! x

If you lie on your front you'll feel it stronger. At least I did.

When I went to the dating scan I was told baby in bad position, so I explained I coukd easily move him. Got on my front and wiggled a bit and then told sonographer he'd moved. He had.

Mmmm, sounds like the date may be wrong- not that unusual to get a bleed in the first month or two of pregnancy at the time your period would have been due.

Maybe contact you gp/midwife for advice? They might want to see you sooner to check the dating.

Agree on dates, I had a scan at 9wks just over and baby is only the size of a grape and arm and leg nubs just visable, no way you'd feel anything at that juration

I felt my son at that me age. I too, thought it was crazy, but even now at 39 weeks, he is bang on for dates, so it must just be position.

I had this with DC2 - bump at 8 weeks and movement from 10 weeks. Much earlier than the DC1.

From 11 weeks I could actually see baby rolling from side to side! It was bizarre!

My dates were right but he was a 10lb+ baby. And very active when born.

It could be your imagination - I sometimes get a feeling that reminds me of a baby moving and I'm not pregnant! It could just be your digestive system which you are mistaking for baby because you know you are pregnant. grin

Hi OP Im currently 16 weeks pregnant and felt the baby move around 9 weeks, I find baby movement unmistakeable. MW just said some women do feel movement almost straight away...others don't. I thought I may be twins, but I had my scan and it's not.

Red81 Sat 16-Feb-13 09:27:13

thanks everyone, it is def baby moving not my imagination, its happening to frequently to be something else. Think i'll contact my mw during the week and see what they say as my partner is convinced he can feel something too which is not what I was expecting! Think id feel better if I knew either way. I came off the mini pill in june but it took 4 months for my cycle to return which I also think was due to the fact I was still bfing DC1 so once we stopped it returned and two months later we concieved my periods were very short and nowhere near as heavy as before I had babys but ive never questioned it until now , guess its possible. thanks again xx

I felt this one(dc3) at 10+ weeks, yes its possible and it winds me up NO END when other people say you cannot be, especially if this person is another woman who should really know better!! angry

MyHeadWasInTheSandNowNot Sat 16-Feb-13 10:43:36

Obviously some women can feel it earlier smile Why wont some people believe that?

MyHeadWasInTheSandNowNot Sat 16-Feb-13 10:44:31

I have to say, OP, that I wouldn't worry about it, your '12' week scan will sort it out for you - for now just enjoy smile

Shellywelly1973 Sat 16-Feb-13 14:24:43

Due to being on the mini pill/Bf/change in cycle i would request a scan. Ur dates could be spot on but no harm in checking.

I've heard of mothers feeling movements from early as 9 weeks. Personally earliest I've ever felt movements was 13 weeks&everyone told me it was wind!

Im going to contact my mw on monday and see if we can get a scan, ive been feeling baby kick all day at work today and im feeling it more and more now, my partner is more worried that if we leave it another 4 weeks for my booked dating scan that we may miss out on the new tests that they do for spinal bif and ds ( im not too worried but he worries about everything!) My last two periods I felt very sick and couldnt stomach food which made me think at the time I was pregnant but then a week later I got my ' period' this happened for two months so never thought anything of it but starting to wonder now!
think it will put my mind at ease either way if I can get my scan brought forward x

FoofFighter Sat 16-Feb-13 19:33:51

There's no test for spina bifida Red the NT test is just for Downs and the trisomies, just for info.. but yes you are probably right that you need to have your dates confirmed

Red81 Sat 16-Feb-13 21:25:29

oh I mustve picked up my mf wrong last time I spoke to her, I thought she said something about checking the scan? but yeah wanna get the dates confirm, especially if we have less time to agree on names haha! xx

Sunnysummer Sun 17-Feb-13 00:36:50

Very sceptical that it would be possible to feel a 9 week baby - at that point it is about the size and weight of a cashew nut, floating about in a fluid-filled and (relative-to-its-size) giant uterus, with minimal muscle development...

Would agree woth pps about waiting for the nec scan, but can also see why you'd want to get tested if you are certain you're feeling kicks!

FoofFighter Sun 17-Feb-13 19:18:02

ahh ladies we are all lyi n g obviously then... silly old us eh??! hmm

Red81 Tue 19-Feb-13 15:59:45

Im getting my scan on monday now, the more I think about it the more I do believe my dates are wrong, thanks everyone and ill let you know the outcome on monday.....................oooohhh very excited now! x

FergusSingsTheBlues Tue 19-Feb-13 18:46:31

Good luck....i had my hopes raised, also by gp who thought fundus was higher than it was, but in the end it transpired i was back in the first trimester. So nice to chop off a month!

LadyAlex Tue 19-Feb-13 20:29:18

we conceived sometime just after 1st July (the day I had my implant out!) I had no bleed after so conception was very quick.
We went away in our caravan for August bank holiday and layed in bed I told my husband I could feel flutters.
They did bring our date forward at the 12w scan but only by 4 days.
Its our second child.
With DS1 it was much much later that I felt movement, although both times the first feelings were in exactly the same place!

Red81 Thu 28-Feb-13 22:21:57

well everyone ive had a scan and my dates arent wrong, im 10 weeks pregnant with - TWINS!!!! Cant believe it , it was the last thing I was thinking off very excited and a little terrified but the shock is wearing off now xx
