6-8 weeks pregnant, symptoms have disappeared and cramping started - should I be worried?!(28 Posts)
I found out I was pregnant a week ago after 3-4 weeks of missed AF and BFN tests. I've now had loads of BFPs so def pregnant. As a result I'm 'officially' 8 weeks pregnant but could be as little as 5 weeks. I had very few symptoms to start with - very tired, indigestion and starving hungry. In the last week I've had a bit of queasiness, nothing major but definitely noticeable.
Today I've had cramping on my left side and the tiniest, palest pink in my discharge (so slight I probably wouldn't even notice if I wasn't looking for it!) but all symptoms have vanished; no sick feeling, hunger or indigestion.
I've not heard from the midwife with an appointment yet and I'm sure I'm being paranoid but its my first and I've no idea what to expect... Can anyone help?
Hi there, sorry to hear of this, I am experiencing similar cramps right now and a LOT of blood but if it makes things any easier i had a scan at the early pregnancy unit & have to go back next week so guessing this may be more common than we think (someone kindly confirmed this in my earlier post) I hope we are both ok, isn't it awful all this worrying.
God I'm sorry MissRaindrop that's awful - you must be going out of your mind? Thankfully I've not really had bleeding, not sure I'd even describe it as spotting.. It's all just so scary! How far along are you? Have you had pregnancy symptoms?
I'm 6 weeks pregnant and don't have many symptoms. I've felt very I'll the last few days but I think that is part pregnancy and part a dodgy belly! I've had very sporadic cramps, only minor. This is my 3rd pregnancy but second baby, so hoping all will be well.
I'm sure you're ok. You may be a lucky one who sails through pregnancy! You can always speak to a doctor if you've not met your midwife & your concerned.
Congratulations on your pregnancy btw. Should have said that first really
Oh I forgot to add that cramping is normal as your womb is growing quickly. But always good to put your mind at rest
Thanks loves - I'm sure I'm being paranoid but not having a midwife yet and so many questions is driving me mad! Because I don't know how far along I am, I have no way of knowing what's normal or not as everything online is in relation to how many weeks pregnant you are!
Thanks for the congrats and reassurance
When i was in the early stages i had alot of cramping i was very worried to i ended up having an early scan at 9 weeks , they told me it was because i am very slim and i have a tilted cervix and it was growing very fast all was fine with baby , but its so worrying and i think its always better to be safe than sorry so maybe have a nice chilled night in bed and call your midwife tomorrow she might be able to get you a scan to put u at ease, sending love
Thanks lea I still don't have a midwife as waiting to get a call for booking in appointment - to be honest I think that's what is making it worse.. I don't have anyone to ask what is and isn't normal! Hopefully I'll get hold of someone tomorrow.. Thanks for reassurance
Hi guys had cramping with both DD1 four years ago and with this pregnancy (no2) - obviously fine first time round and am now 23 weeks into pg no 2.
So glad to hear lots of people have cramps but it is just AWFUL. I hardly slept at all last night as it was just so painful (& internal scan only put me at 5 weeks although I thought I was more.) in answer to your question, I did have symptoms including sickness but not sure if they're still there as cramps are so sore, one way to take my mind off feeling sick. It's just horrid having to wait & see what happens as I do fear the worst for myself. Blood heavy. It sounds like your spotting is much more normal. Once we meet our midwives it will put our mind at rest I am sure. It does help to hear people with similar experiences on here, so glad I found this site today
Glad it is helpful Raindrop it's amazing seeing how different everyone's experiences are!
Has anyone else had symptoms that have stopped/disappeared temporarily or early?
Its ok i know how scary it can be, if you are near a big hospital they should have an early preg unit so maybe go to ur docs and he may refer you to get checked out but i was told its very common i had it till about 16 weeks! And my anti who was carrying twins had cramping that bad her doc told her she may have rumbling appendix (she didnt it was just her uterus expanding ) i was also sick alot everyday from 4 weeks but when i was 20 weeks it just stopped for two weeks i panicked so much because DS wasnt really kicking then alot anyway ! But a week later it came back with extra strength ha ! Try not to worry its very common but go see ur doc or nurse for peace of mind if u feel it will make u feel better
Did you manage to get seen today? I am feeling a lot better after 2 nights of those cramps so hope all is ok, still 4 days to wait til scan to hear one way or the other, it's a long wait
Hope you got on well xx
Oh wow that is a long wait, you must be going out f your mind! Hope you are ok?
I had call from the midwife yesterday and have appointment tomorrow. I briefly mentioned my concerns and she didn't seem worried but I'm hoping I can speak to her about it more tomorrow. Felt a bit queasy again today so I'm taking that as a positive sign!
Really hope everything is ok with you, let me know
Phone NHS 24, I had exactly the same symptoms and they referred me to my local early pregnancy unit. Where they examined and scanned me, and everything was fine, thank god! But also try not to worry too much, cramping is just everything stretching and growing to adapt to the tiny baby in your belly! easier said than done, I know! x
Not good with me unfortunately - phoned nhs24 last night & went to out of hours doc. Got cocodemol & slept for first time in days. I am hopeful you will be fine - Dr said cramps are normal but when they are severe & with blood it can be early labour, my scan will probably show tomor that I have nothing left inside but I am prepared for that. Hope you get on ok xxx
Sorry guys. They confirmed the worst & the last few days I have been losing a lot of blood & bits, pretty traumatised really. I kinda knew what was happening but didn't think it would take quite so long or be so painful. A horrible thing for people to have to go through. Will be ok in time but it's just awful, two weeks ago we were so happy at our good news - how quickly things can change xxx
I am so sorry to hear that, cant imagine what your going threw! Thinking of you ! X
So sorry to hear about your news. I had a miscarriage just before Christmas and it was so upsetting, a really difficult time. There's nothing anyone can say or do that will make things better. Are you still in pain? Have they offered you an ERPC operation? I went through it after my miscarriage so can share with you if it would help?
Please tell me Hevana if you don't mind sharing, it has been agony & was just not prepared for the pain - or the blood - even 2 nights ago, feel like it has been going on forever & wasn't aware of the alternatives & wasn't offered an op, just that some had passed naturally so let it run it's course - but it's traumatised me to the core. Sorry for your loss too, it is just awful, I don't know if we'll get over this. Xxx
Raindrop I'm so sorry to hear your news. I had a mmc last year so ended up having the erpc as I had been carrying around my baby who had no heartbeat for 3 weeks and my body was refusing to recognise it. The procedure was painless. Went to sleep for half an hour and woke up and it was done. The emotional side however, took longer. Maybe talk to your doc and see if you can get the erpc as I know the waiting for it to happen naturally is frustrating. Just to let you know, I am almost 15 weeks pregnant now so it will happen for you. Hugs and lots of hand holding xxx
Thank you do much Reebok, I thought it would have taken so much longer. So awful but glad you got through it & so pleased at your lovely news now. I hope it happens again in time, I feel so empty now & wish I could stop crying. It just keeps coming back to me & life seems so worthless now.... Keep wondering what I could have done different, not sure if I took enough folic acid etc but thank you do much for that if this drags on much longer I will ask. Thank you. Xxx
I completely understand how you feel. I went through a stage of blaming myself too. I was convinced I had done something wrong as I had a poor diet due to hyperemesis. But the truth is, there is nothing I could have done. With miscarriages, it's usually something as simple as the egg not being fertilized correctly. Which means, YOU DID NOTHING wrong...just like I did nothing wrong. I promise you, you will get through this. I'm nt going to lie...you never forget and it stays with you but it will make you a stronger person. I conceived again after 3 months...as soon as I was strong enough to start trying again. I'm certain you will also go on to have a healthy pregnancy too when the time is right. In the meantime, let your body grieve. But whatever you do, please don't blame yourself ok. If you need a chat, pm me x
