Hi I was just wondering, do babies really follow their behavior in the womb when born? People keep telling me that if they are active at night then the baby will wake up throughtout the night and visa versa. Is this true in your experiences?

Hope not, my bump barely seems to sleep! I think it has something to do with when you are up and about and moving you rock them to sleep and then they wake up when you settle.
Think it is probably another wives tale.

I doubt it, else my baby will always automatically be awake when I'm sitting quietly in a meeting at work. Quite how she will manage that I'm not sure
My MW has said the same as sundaesundae, when you move they are lulled by it, when you're still then they move about.

Not for me, thankfully!
DD was not very active while I was pregnant but never slept!
DS1 was very active all the time while I was pregnant and slept through from 2 weeks.
DS2 was mostly active at night but is also proving to be a good sleeper (only 8 days old though so plenty of time to prove me wrong!)

I doubt it! I've just done three night shifts and my baby appears to have become nocturnal along with me! I think they respond to a variety of different stimulants and your activity in the womb. They'll be awake more from need - hunger (feeding every few hours!), wet bum being uncomfortable etc when they are actually born.

I believe it is true. My DS1 followed the exact same routine of sleep and activity when he was born. which was, awake at night and asleep in the day...fun times!

Did for me - like Hermione, bump was very quiet during the night and to date baby is a very good sleeper at night.

Dd1- placid, placid baby
Dd2- hyper, still hyper at 11 & didn't sleep though until she was 5.
Dd3- placid, placid baby
Dc4- quite lively but no where near dd2 ( fingers crossed!)
I do find I wake up at the same time each night for a pee, that was the time DD woke up for her night feed. 2am perfect. This one seems to kick my bladder about 4am, which isn't so good.
tbh, I'm hoping to follow the routine DD got us into. I never worried with getting one into place quickly [after reading some really judgey pants books] I let her [DD] lead me. We ended up with a pretty good routine with the odd waking, until colic hit [shudder].
Don't make yourself worried about it though, everyone's baby is different. Mine would sleep like a dream at night, but spent all day whinging and sleeping on me. A close friends baby slept all day and was up at regular intervals of the night. It does get better.
