Help! Acid refluxy sickness ... What are good things to eat?

Week 31 and suddenly feeling horribly sick if i eat acidic fruit etc. Apparently this is acid reflux.... I escaped it until now!!! But now my beloved apples or fruit juices slay me and i am sick for ages. So i need to avoid those and get something less acidic.

Are there any things to eat that help reduce this kind of acidic nausea? I am drawing a blank, cos i usually eat lots of fruit and tomatoes and things like that. Never had any probs before so a bit clueless now!

I hope the wombat is okay... This eating while pregnant thng is a bloody complex nightmare!

If any of you have advice for how to avoid acid reflux style sickness, let me know and i will be so grateful! So will the wombat :)

I find a really cold glass of milk helps, but not sure if that's just me. Good luck, having both bad heartburn and acid reflux and it is making sleeping a nightmare. :)

I find that a bowl of porridge helps, milky and heavy so it stays down. Try with with a chaser of Gaviscon!

I second Gaviscon! Get ye to a pharmacy :)

I know this sounds weird but I found 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar works. I was suffering bad with it, keeping me awake all night. Now I sleep so much better Smile

Love hearts! I swear by them, I've suffered since 20 weeks and these seem to really relieve it! Other than that other chalky sweets likepalma violets, fizzes or refreshers

Ready made custard straight from the fridge. Or ice cream!

Not eating too much at once - and milky hot chocolates. I completely sympathise, it's horrid, I mostly suffer at night and have done since about 28/29 weeks (now 36).

Definitely Gaviscon (pretty sure GP will give prescrip so can get free). Ref fruit, about the only thing I've been able to cope with is grapes, lots and lots of grapes (the really sweet red ones), although have had mega strawberry cravings over last couple of weeks and haven't suffered too badly from those; with me it's fizzy drinks and spicy foods that are the killer...a mug or two of milky hot chocolate before bed definitely seem calm things down as well as helping me get off to sleep...

This is brilliant! Thanks so much for all these tips. I see the definite dairy, chalky trend!
