I wish my sister would stop dropping her gems of wisdom on me. So can someone please tell me of this is true or is she talking utter shite.

I was saying how heavy my boobs already feel at 19 weeks, and she came out with "well if you think that's bad, just wait until they get so big you're leaking milk everywhere. And that's even before you've had the baby"

She's come out with so many things I'm finding it hard to work out whether she's winding me up or not.

I just need to know so I'm prepared really.

I always told mum I wanted a brother hmm

ShineYourButtonsWithBrasso Sat 11-Feb-12 23:40:27

She is right (in my case)

I would buy lots of breast pads especially if you breastfeed, you leek like a wonky gutter.

lisad123 Sat 11-Feb-12 23:41:46

I didn't leak a drop till about 3 days in, and they felt like lead weights confused

CervixWithASmile Sat 11-Feb-12 23:42:18

Mine weren't too bad before but two throbbing leaky water balloons about covers week one.

pixiepud Sat 11-Feb-12 23:43:02

Not everyone leaks during pregnancy no, some do which is normal but i dont think its quite as bad as shes probably making out. After the baby yes, its a different story and even another baby crying will make your breasts leak quite alot. But i wouldn't worry.

Bolkocks in my case. No leaking before and feck all milk afterwards. I have shite tits hmm

McPhee Sat 11-Feb-12 23:44:09

So there's a chance I could leak before I've even given birth. Is this like towards the end, or shoud I be keeping an eye now blush

oh god.

jasminetatu Sat 11-Feb-12 23:44:38

Hmm, I think she is right. I found it really quite painful when my milk came in - sore and leaky, ouch sad HV told me to put fridge-cold savoy cabbage leaves in my bra and they worked wonders!! Really soothing.

pixiepud Sat 11-Feb-12 23:47:07

well it seems everyones different but i would say you shouldn't have to worry til towards the end, but if its worrying you, buy some breast pads now so you know you have them if you need them. Keep them in your bag for reassurance maybe.

PoohBearsHole Sat 11-Feb-12 23:49:01

I didn't have huge leakage prior to have either dc, not enough to warrant breast pads but in the bath there was the occasional drip.grin

But day 3, holy moly, dh said Pamela or Dolly would be jealous and I was resting my chin on rockhard giant boobs that felt like a huge weight so some of what she is says is correct smile

You may have wanted a brother - but she may be useful in the future. My dsis was v useful to call at 3 in the morning when I thought I was going mad wink

McPhee Sat 11-Feb-12 23:50:01

I'd be mortified if I suddenly leaked, and got caught out so I think I will do that pixiepud.

This pregnancy lark really is all glamour isn't it. No wonder I waited till I was 36 blush

minceorotherwise Sat 11-Feb-12 23:50:56

Well, right or wrong she's going to get way more annoying by the sounds of it.......

ShineYourButtonsWithBrasso Sat 11-Feb-12 23:55:15

I tried to purchase a savoy cabage from our local green grocer, he told me they were 80p each, not weighed.

I told him I was happy with mt medium sized cabage but he insisted I should buy a bigger one for 80p.

I snapped and told him the leaves of the medium size one would fit perfectly in my breast milk swollen bra than you very much and he gave it to me for free smile

I've noticed tiny bits of seepage only after I've been swimming, from about 28 weeks. Not noticeable, just visible to me when I've been changing afterwards.

No - she's enjoying being the one-in-the-know!

Repeat 'Yes, but everyone's different'.

or 'Yes, but the HV, MW, DR. etc says everyone's different.

Then smile serenely... smile grin smile

YNK Sun 12-Feb-12 00:02:46

No seepage either before or after and I fed mine for over a year.

TheDetective Sun 12-Feb-12 00:20:16

I leaked from 26 weeks smile

Some women do, some women don't. Everyone is different.

Peeling your nipples off your milk encrusted bra at the end of the day is enough to make your toes curl though, and rush out to buy breast pads immediately!

OldLadyKnowsNothing Sun 12-Feb-12 00:26:33

I leaked from about 6 months, sorry. But everyone is different.

PoohBearsHole Sun 12-Feb-12 00:27:53

I would occasionally wake up in a wet bed - the boobs were very overactive on the occasional night grin

Just out of curiosity - is she younger than you? Are you more successful than her? is this something and possibly the first thing that she has ever had to hold over you?

4madboys Sun 12-Feb-12 00:28:13

i leaked from about 20wks preg each time, but i always had oversupply issues as well once bfeeding so maybe that was linked? so yes get some bpads in to be safe smile its fine tho smile

swanker Sun 12-Feb-12 00:32:09

I never leaked- either before or after birth. Ebf 2 children, both to 17mo.

Everyone's body is different.

AThingInYourLife Sun 12-Feb-12 00:36:50

I started leaking at 20 weeks pg with my first.

It wasn't sore though.

Not like the fiery boulders of death I had stuck to my front when my milk came in, 3 days post-CS.

HurricaneBawbag Sun 12-Feb-12 00:55:39

Leaked before, from about 5 months, usually at night time when I took my bra off and every time we had sex! Was horrified the first time!

Happenstance Sun 12-Feb-12 09:15:09

first time, i didn't leak at all, this time around i started leaking a bit at 4 months but its not a fountain, just a drop or 2 i wouldn't worry

McPhee Sun 12-Feb-12 09:20:38

I will be going straight out to buy some today, after reading all this. Most of you started leaking at the stage I am now shock

My sister is actually older and more successful than little old me. Actually I wonder if there's a bit of jealousy from her, because for once it's not all about her hmm
