Is this SPD, please?

31 weeks with DC2.

I've been having bad lower back pain since about 20 weeks, but for two weeks-ish I've noticed that I sometimes had a sharp, aching pain over the pubic bone. And for the last week my left hip, which I dislocated several years ago, has been on and off agony. To the point that sometimes I can't weight bear.

Rolling over in bed in now hell, by the time I get to flat on my back my pelvis, back and hip are all twinging or outright agony, and shifting the weight onto my left makes me want to scream. Even lying on my right my left hip hurts, and that's with a pillow between my knees.

I've been trying to convince myself it's just the baby (head down and low) lying on my hip joint or a nerve, but I'm worried it might be more than that.

Is there anything I can do it it is? I'm not seeing MWs for another fortnight.

I'd really appreciate any advice.

Thanks so much!

Make an appointment with your gp, they might be able to refer you to a physio, that's what I did.

Hope you feel more comfortable!

Thanks, I'll give them a call.

Yep classic SPD I'm sorry to say!

The Pelvic Partnership has a great website and helpline with lots of hints and tips.

Here : www.pelvicpartnership.org.uk/

I've suffered with my 3 pregnancies this one from 13 weeks, not fun but with care and physio you should be able to stop it getting worse. Some days are worse than others so you must REST where possible. I ended up on crutches on the really bad days the first time I had it, but now I know how to maintain it.

Good luck, its worth noting that in my local authority you can self refer to the physio, call your midwife or GP first it may be just a case of getting the right contact number to go direct to the physio.

It does sound like SPD, sounds bad too sad

I had chiropractic treatment for SPD (private though so not cheap) and will be starting again next week as I'm just feeling the first twinges again.

As morethemerrier says, you may be able to self refer for physio.

Good luck, and I hope you can get some relief.

Thanks everyone sad

I've managed to get an appointment with a GP for this evening, so hopefully they can give me details on how to get some physio. Depending on how long that takes I might look for a chiropractor. I saw an osteopath after DS was born but I wasn't entirely convinced by her. I know some ladies at my pilates class have SPD so I'll ask around.

Fortunately I'm seeing PILs next week who were both physios until last year, so hopefully they can give me some help too.

I've been trying to keep swimming this pg, would that help it or will it make it worse?

Thanks for the link, I'm going to look on there now.

Thanks again!
