Hello! Only my second ever post and hoping for some advice/reassurance!
Will be 14 weeks on Thursday with my second pregnancy. My DS had second severe vomitting bug last week and I've picked it up.
Currently on day 6 and flat out in bed. Struggling to hold down lemonade. Been having very strong period like pains and lower back ache continually. Very frightened and saw GP yesterday who said little risk of miscarriage and the body resilient to this kind of thing and luckily had no bleeding.
I'm still terrified as still cramping and we'd only just told our family and friends I'm expecting again and now this has happened.
Had very difficult 1st pregnancy and labour with lots of complications and ended up delivering early. Super anxious about this pregnancy- am under Consultant care already at the hospital.
Any advice? Any had a horrible bug this early on in pregnancy and been ok?
Hi there.
Had this a few weeks ago at 19 weeks. It's unpleasant to say the least. But at least like you said, the chances of M/c are low. I know you'll worry anyway, I would and did too, but at least your in the right place on bed rest. Keep your fluid levels up.
Good luck. X

I had this with my first DC (who is now 3). Lots and lots of R&R is the best thing. Get well soon!!

Sometimes bowel cramps can feel like uterus cramps/period pains as they are so closely positioned.
Good luck, probably just dodgy gut.

If it makes you feel any better I have a similar thing. The d&v only lasted for a few days but the abdominal pains are still going. I'm off work (which REALLY irritates me) because it's SO painful I can barely breathe, but have had all checked at the drs and they've said nothing to worry about and have given me some codeine.
My last pg was fairly straightforward and I'm getting myself into a right state, so sending you lots of sympathy. But if it's any help, I've now spoken to mw and 2 doctors (one on phone and one this morning for checks) and nobody has seemed the slightest bit concerned about the baby. <disclaimer: not helping me right now, but hopefully it will sink in soon>

Thank you everyone for good advice.
Lucky- hope you feel better soon. My DH has got me bottles of lucozade which seem to be staying down better- unlike fizzy lemonade which just hurts on the way back up!

Mmm Orangina is doing it for me - I've run out and I'm gutted
I had gastro-bugs a couple of times in my second pregnancy, and now have a healthy 4yo and I'm nearly fully cooked with number 3!
I had bad sickness in this pg - either caused by bad indigestion or possibly food poisoning - I was 18weeks ish. It set off terrible bh, and the mw said that it was no wonder as vomiting like that (and I had put my back out) would have caused all my muscles to tense and spasm - including uterine.
But you must get checked out in case you're dehydrated - that's the main thing to watch for.
Best of luck!
