Real xmas tree

Im thinking about getting a real tree. But my baby is due to be born about 2 weeks before xmas. Of course this means the tree will stink the house up - lovely smell to adults, but is it a bit of a hazard for him?

Not just health wise, but in him becoming accustomed to his new home/his mummy's smell etc?

If Im paranoid, just say!

I'm sure it'll be fine - wouldn't have thought Christmas tree scent will be too overpowering Smile

You're paranoid Grin

Have a lovely Christmas with a wonderful real tree.

We got a fake tree last Xmas when I was 7 months pg. I couldn't face picking up all the needles off the floor after!

Back to a real tree this year though, it just wasn't the same, and I'm sure DD, 10 months, will love it Grin

we had a real tree when our DS was one week old (he was born the beginning of December) and he had no problems at all. I was told it's more important to wear no perfume and use unscented body wash and deodorant for the first few weeks rather than house smells. You might want to give plug ins a miss for a while though, my DH has asthma and these really aggravate him so they might not be great for babies either.

eh? if a real christmas tree is a "hazard" for a newborn then half the rest of the contents of your house would be. hair spray? deodrant? perfume? they're all funny smells and they're chemical! in fact a fake tree is probably more toxic, given all the plastic it's made of.
a few pine needles won't do your babe any harm, unless you're planning on putting him/her under the tree!
