I and the CM have thought for a while that DD was close to if not ready for potty training. This evening after a few failed attempts to get DD to sit on potty before bath - just as the pre-training idea - she sat down to watch Peppa Pig on my iPhone/YouTube for a couple of episodes. When she stood up she'd weed. I was so excited as if she wees on the carpet the odd time during nappy off time she gets upset, but she seemed totally cool about it. I gave her lots of hugs and praise, and (possibly big mistake) a tiny chocolate coin.
Now I'm wondering if - as we have no plans for the weekend and I have a day off on Monday - I should just bite the bullet and try potty training, on the basis if it doesn't work we can stop and leave it til summer?
DD is 2y 1mo, very verbal and understands a lot. She is pretty amenable (bearing in mind she's 2!). I am due to have DC2 in April so if I don't do it now/soon probably can't til summer. CM would be supportive (she's told me so). However one other important factor is DH is away for two weeks (we're half way through) and DD is missing him quite a bit. She's not upset as in crying, but we talk about him a lot (he does all after CM care 4 days/wk).
Whether I should go ahead or not, also wondering if big mistake to use Peppa on YouTube to get her to sit on potty and/or chocolate. Was thinking we could do a sticker chart and when she gets three she gets a choc button or something, with maybe one for a wee and two for a poo? I need to read those books upstairs now...
Thanks for reading so much, and any advice.
