Co-sleeping crib or bassinet

I'm after some advice from any new mums who have tried standard cribs/cots/bassinets and co-sleeping cribs for their newborns. How did you find a co-sleeping crib such as the Babynest? I'm either getting this or a bassinet (we live in a hot climate, so I think a Moses basket would be suffocating). Did you find that baby's snuffles and squeaks keep you awake if he was too close? Do you find baby sleeps better if within arms reach next to you and can see you? And after a CS has it been easier to move the baby from a co-sleeper over a regular cot/crib?
