£20 a week in the pub
£15 a week for Sky
£32 a week on mobile phones.
A large pouch of tobacco AND 200 fags, plus 24 cans of lager.
£30,284.80 a year in benefits
And this family thinks they are hard done by?
Ridiculous. The benefits system in this country is totally out of control.

There is already a thread about this article.
And hangings. Don't forget public hangings.
Because lord knows we've lost all compassion for our fellow man so we might as well make them entertaining.

I think people can spend their benefits on what they want, however if they are spending a lot on luxuries like alcohol, sky, ciggerettes etc they have nothing to complain about if their benefits are lowered. Besides what would he do if he was the averga efamily earning £26k after tax pa?
I also do not see why the father has been unemployed for ten years, just because there are no jobs for software developers does not mean he is banned from every other job. What is wrong in taking a job you are not trained in, especially if the only other option is long term unemployment.

The sooner the cap comes in the better - that amount wont include FSM, prescriptions etc so it will actually be far higher. If there are no jobs in his skilled area then he needs to take anything that brings in a wage. We cant afford to support people who wait for them dream job to be handed to them on a plate.
Adding another child to the mix and then moaning about choosing between heating and food is simply daft. People need to take responsibility for their own lives and provide for themselves.
You know what OP, you know that mirror you want this 'benefit family' to look in, why not twisting it around and taking a look. So they are getting that much money, but are their children starving, do they live in squalor? No. The only thing you know about their situation is what has been reported. Then again all the news is totally unbiased isn't it...

30thousand for a family of EIGHT isn't that luxurious really is it? The couple are sharing their room with the five year old. His wife has bipolar and anxiety disorder.
All this benefit bashing is becoming rather tedious to be honest.

Why do any of you care what they spend their money on?
Maybe you should all list everything you spend your money on and then I'll tell you if your outgoings are morally satisfactory to me.
oh yes. I'd love a public hanging. I mourn for the days when eah town would have it's own gibbet.

The government media is doing a bloody good job of getting people riled up. Show things the hard of thinking can all be 'disgusted' about and get folks behind the benefit cuts. arrghh, scumbags smoking my tax money away, string em up. How odd that this is happening at the same time as massive cuts, particularly hitting the disabled, when it may result in people who can't see beyond their newspaper headline/tv show thinking everyone on benefits is a scrounger with a 50inch tv.
If I was the cynical type, I might be tempted to think there might be an agenda here...

£32 a week is for 6 though so not really that much. This is a family of 7! Not hat I am condoning some of the thing they spend money on, like tobacco and fags even if you took the thing you mention away they would still be over £20 per week worse off, that adds up over a year.
And I agree with fuckity
