Talking about a pet dying

Sorry if this is totally inappropriate place to post this but need some advice. My parent's have just had to have their muched loved dog put down, my DD is 3 1/2 so I need to explain to her why Millie is no longer about. Has anyone got any advice or tips about how to go about this, how much detail to go into? I want to be honest with her but obviously not freak her out.

You could read Goodbye Mog to her.
Keep any explanations very simple and emphasise that Millie is in a lovely place where she is running about and playing and very happy.
