Getting a cat

I'd like to get a cat for 4yo dd and me, but I have no idea where to start! Where should I get one (rescue place, privately?) and should I get a kitten or an older cat that has been spayed and had all the jabs?

I would go to a rescue centre personally. As you know they have been defleaed and wormed where as when you go privately they can tell you that they have de fleaed and de wormed them but havent. Whether you get a kitten or a cat is entirely up to you, but kittens can be a little friendly with their claws. Maybe take dd with you and see what she thinks too. Some cats are placid as anything. x
