Hi, I want to say "Until she had already dove/dived into the water" but neither of those look or sound right to me. I can't think of an alternative, either. Any ideas? Thanks.

Dived. Americans sometimes use dove, it's not standard English.

I thought 'dived' sounded better than 'dove' but it still doesn't sound quite right to me. It's probably just a stupid sentence that should never have been formed. Still, 'dived' sounds a lot better than the 'diven' my logical brain is telling me to say.
