a very sad story.
but for some reason this headline bugs me... why man and girl, not boy and girl, or man and woman?

very sad to read about that. poor families! i think that the media have to call somone a boy/girl as, they are classed as a child under the age of 18. so with the male being 18 years old he is classed as a man x

18 and over = adult. If you're under 18 you are still classed as a child.

What a sad story.

To me that reads as a total of four people drowned. Could just be me though. wink

It's simply the ages - if he had been 17 too he would have been described as a "youth" I think.

I hate this corner.

It's a bit tasteless to put this in here imo
