It was absolutely fascinating, particularly how the topography of some parts of Iceland have changed since last year's volcanic eruption. She had an Icelandic guide with her, whose English was excellent. So...why, oh why, when the Icelandic guide was talking about a crevasse in a glacier, did JB then refer to the crevasse as a crevice?

We watched it last night, and I'm now filled with a burning ambition to do that walk. It looked stunning. I loved the camaraderie between her and the guide, too.

I wondered what on earth they were carrying in those enormous backpacks, considering she had a whole support team with 4 wheel drives with her. It's not like she had to carry food and drink for four days with her. DH thought polystyrene balls. I thought helium balloons.

Yep, I noticed the crevasse/crevice thing too. It's probably one of those mouth running away without the brain occasions. The alternative- that she's never heard the word crevasse aloud before, seems too unlikely, considering the amount of walking she's done.

Not being hugely keen on walking (well, those distances anyway), I don't think I could do it. But, wow, it looked amazing. Now you come to mention the backpacks, yes, that's an interesting point. Dry clothes, socks, waterproofs, those odd sandals they wore to cross the river, packed lunch and water? Still they were rather large.

That's what I thought about crevasse/crevice; as a professional walker, so to speak, you'd think she'd know better - unless, as you say, her mouth ran away with her enthusiasm

It was an amazing programme - what a stunning country. I wondered about the bulky rucksacks too and perhaps they had to carry essentials like thermal blankets and a flask (especially when the weather changed rapidly at the first hut.)

JB annoys the hell out of me. She is terrible for interjecting just before the other person has finished talking and her use of 'crevice' made me hope she would fall into one.

In a similar vein, I saw Rogue Traders last week where Rick Wakeman referred to * as an Asterix. FFS. And I've seen it in Which? magazine as well. What is the world coming to?

At the risk of being accused of reviving an old thread, this programme is being repeated right now.
