  1. Do you give them full fat or can they have semi skimmed?

  1. How long should they still have it in a bottle for? I assume you wean them onto sippy cups but what age is normalish? My friends little girl is nearly 2 and still drinks out of a tommee tippee bottle and she looks a bit big to me (not being a judging bitch i just dont think ive known many 2 yr olds hwo still have a bottle).

  1. Do you still warm it up or will they take it from the fridge? My dd is used to warm bottles 90% of the time!

1- full fat to start with, and see how it goes, my children are 5 and 7 and still have full fat as they are quite slim and only have two glasses of milk a day. I think the guidelines is to go to semi skimmed when they turn 2, but you might want to ask your HV.

2- the HV advice (fairly recent) was to stop the bottle at 12 months ish, or phase it out gradually from 8 months. My opinion is that until 18 months is ok, as long as they don't fall asleep with the bottle in the mouth as it's bad for their teeth. And if they get used to having it in beaker as well.

3- Of course you can warm it up for a while, but it will be usefull in the long run to change to cold milk.

  1. Full fat, definitely. Not sure when it's fine to switch to semi-skimmed but I thought it was well past 2yo.
  2. Up to you but easiest to get them to drink from a sippy cup now rather than later. At 12mo they'll still be fairly compliant! DS was a bit angry the first few times I offered a sippy cup instead of the boob/bottle, but he got over it within about 2-3 days.
  3. Personal preference! DS has it either warm or room temperature. I prefer not to give him ice cold milk to avoid tummy upset. Ddepends on how much also, small sippy cup with 100ml of milk I'm happy for him to drink cold - but a huge beaker of 250ml I prefer it to not be too cold as he tends to gulp the whole thing down in one go. Maybe I'm projecting but I don't like drinking large ice cold drinks in one go apart from in summer!

Full fat, definitely, guidelines are full fat up to 5 yrs unless weight an issue in which case can swap to semi after 2 yrs.
Easiest way to swap is to exchange just an ounce of formula for cows milk and keep it like that for a couple of days, then 2 ounces..... I remember just trying a cup of cows milk straight off with DS and his face was a picture!
Yes fine to warm, but seriously, it'll make your life sooo much easier to slowly reduce the temp until your dc is taking it straight from the fridge.
DS bottle refused so I used tommee tippee free flow sippy cup from 10 weeks and he was competently using it by 6 months. I'd make the change to cows milk first and then maybe change to a cup in the daytime.
Good luck!
