I remember from ds when he was a baby how manky the Bath seat got despite me cleaning it scrupulously there was always black grime from all the nooks and crannies! I've read threads about this problem so I know it's not just me!

Is it ok to just a bath mat and have her seated on that, if I keep hold of her so she doesn't fall? Any other ideas? Thanks

I was always in the bath with the boys.
they either sat opposite me with me keeping alert ready to catch or them lying down on my legs.

I never used a seat with either of mine, get everything prepared before she goes in , then let get sit in shallow water while you wash her, don't leave her unwatched and she'll be fine.

Get in with them!

Bath seat? Never had one, just held DS as he sat on bath mat.

Marking my place for ideas, I'm about to buy a bath seat for my 6 month old.

I used DH... DS is nearly 2 now, and they love their Bathtime!

Don't buy a bath seat! Get a cheap non slip mat!

We had the mothercare bath seat... Is it a bath pod? Pricey but good and lasts a while size-wise.

Normally just held her (one arm behind shoulders, propping head). Used the other hand to wash her. I did try a floating foam pillow but it wasnt that successful as I couldn't wash her all over.

never had one.
very shallow bath, very vigilant, always ready to grab just in case. (this was when dc could sit on their own).
before that I would hold them. their left upper arm with my left arm behind their backs, so that the other arm would be free to wash.

from 6 months both mine could sit up so shallow bath and keep very close eye on - never felt the need for a seat

We had one of those lie back supports when tiny but as soon as they could sit they just went on a mat. Mine are Waterbabies though and generally spend bathrobe lying on the bottom with only their noses sticking out.

Never used anything, dd used to love lying on her back scooting up and down. I only put a few inches so there faces werent covered.

It was a present and I didn't know it was so expensive until now, but my son sits comfortably inside and it's easier for me to get him in and out than the actual bath. Made me feel more confident too.

It folds up and when he outgrows it we'll use it to store toys. He's 8 months now and probably has another couple of months before he's too big for it.

I use a 'safety first' bath seat, which seems to stay clean and makes bathing my DS so much easier.

Like MousyMouse we just put DD in the bath and hold her. Now she sits up fine except when we lean her back to wash her hair. We now have a cheap non-slip bath mat because she doesn't like leaning back and we think it makes her feel more secure. Possibly.

We have found it necessary to regularly fill her bath ducks with Milton to stop them growing black inside -

Never felt the need for a bath seat. Used hands! It's not as if they need a major scrub also did them in kitchen sink, much easier than bath. Still do my 21mo in kitchen sink!

Bath seat? I didn't know you could get these.

I just plonk mine in the bath and sit beside her. We used to hold onto her, arm angled underneath her back as she lay back but since she could sit up she has just sat there and played with her bath toys. Now she's 12 months she loves scooting up and down in the bath, and screams when I take her out. Used to scream when I put her in as a newborn!

Used to give ds to DH to wash whilst they were in the shower together whilst I quickly cleaned the sink and bleached the loo every second counts

For DD1, I used my arm. For DDs 2 and 3, I used DD1

It didn't occur to me to buy a special seat for the bath

We just used a non-slip mat from IKEA (c. £3.50, I think).
