I'm new to mums net and am trying to find a thread/forum for 'geratric mums' like me. That is ones who were over 30 when they gave birth, and in my case just over 40 when I gave birth. I'm sure there must be others lurking out there like me. I'd be interested in sharing experiences. For example;

Did co workers greet your revelation that you were carrying a human child I I in such a way that you suspect if you siad you were about to birth an elephant. they'd be less shocked?

Did everyone assume you had IA, made a mistake, etc rather than just acting like it was normal?

Did you find midwifes and nurses treating you like an alien life form?

I d be interested in other womens experiencesm.sorry for typos smart phone dim when doing mumsnet!

Hi brychensmum, I'm 39 (and a half!) and decided three months ago to try for a baby, but none of our friends and family will be expecting it, in fact one of my partner's friends at dinner last week said "and of course you two aren't going to have children". We didn't say anything, but the confidence with which he made his declaration surprised me.

When I was expecting DS1, I saw the phrase 'elderly prima gravida' on the doctor's notes, which threw me a bit. OTOH, everyone else in the maternity ward seemed to be around 15 .....
