We want to know about you and the cars you buy - are you a petrol head who dreams of updating their ride on a regular basis? Or are you driving ancient wheels around and just don't care?!

Please take a few minutes to tell us by completing our survey then add your details at the end and you will be entered into the prize draw for one of the fab prizes up for grabs - these are:

1) Purple Grape Catering are offering a three course meal for six people cooked in the comfort of your own home. It will include canapés, a 3 course meal and half a bottle of wine per head and a waitress. They will come to your house and cook, serve and clean up.

2) We have 2 £250 vouchers to spend in any Tesco store or at any Tesco fuel station.

and finally:

3) You could win four tickets to your choice of either the Clothes Show, Good Food Show or Masterchef live

More details here

The survey is open to all Mumsnetters with at least one child and who have a car - any car - company included.

Thanks
MNHQ

ok done. My heart would love someone to cook for us, but my head wants the petrol vouchers.
dreaming though - as I never win anything!

TheCunningStunt Mon 26-Mar-12 14:49:52

All done. Fingers crossed. Fuel vouchers would be amazing.

smokinaces Mon 26-Mar-12 15:06:24

Done. Survey was slow to respond and load, and I have to say quite patronising. It presumed you only made decisions if dp agreed - no mention of us who's exdp don't even drive, or that are in fact single.

smokinaces Mon 26-Mar-12 15:07:27

250gbp for fuel would be five tanks for me. Which is about ten weeks petrol. Would be AMAZING.

AnnMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 26-Mar-12 16:38:22

smokinaces - sorry you feel like that - there was always a NA code for questions which were about decision making and we did have options for you being wholly responsible for decision making.

ProfCoxWouldGetIt Tue 27-Mar-12 09:02:11

Done - we're just about to go through the process of trading in one or both of ours for a new car

Greenshadow Wed 28-Mar-12 22:33:15

Done - but found quite difficult as the way we buy my car is very different to the way my DH chooses his.

His is a company car - still chosen by him (within certain constraints) but mine is always an older, cheap car which we buy from completely different outlets.

Not all questions allow for this, i.e. 'how much do you spend on a car' and 'how often do you change you car' both only allow one answer, but we have 2 very different answers.

LineRunner Fri 30-Mar-12 16:28:33

I have abandoned this survey because, let's face it, there really is an assumption running through it that I must have a DH/DP.

Done - fingers crossed!

I don't get the second question, or rather, what box to tick for our sports car, there doesn't seem to be an option for them, or an I being thick?

StringOrNothing Fri 30-Mar-12 16:53:29

I think the data is going to be difficult to interpret because they don't ask your gender do they - so male MNers answering will turn a lot of those answers into rubbish.

CheesyPotatoes Fri 30-Mar-12 17:36:15

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

bruxeur Fri 30-Mar-12 17:39:54

Yeah that assumed female gender and current DP. Silly errors - bit village.

done, £250 of fuel would make a mahoosive difference to us, thats about 10wks worth!!

jammydodger1 Fri 30-Mar-12 18:24:14

Done also but email address at the end cant remember which one I used hope it doesnt make a difference as any of the prizes would be most welcome smile

gazzalw Fri 30-Mar-12 20:26:30

Would love to enter it but we don't have a car - we are excluded by default!

100years Fri 30-Mar-12 20:53:20

MNHQ Can you check mine came through OK please. I clicked a button while the survey was sending. Thanks thanks

BiscuitNibbler Fri 30-Mar-12 23:47:18

I just know my amazing ideas for the perfect car will turn up at next year's Motor Show and I won't get any credit.

exexpat Sat 31-Mar-12 01:24:57

Agree that the survey seemed to assume that 'family' must include two adults. I am a single parent and so obviously make all car-buying decisions by myself.

wannabestressfree Sat 31-Mar-12 06:50:55

All done :}

LtEveDallas Sat 31-Mar-12 06:52:02

Done. I was very blush to admit that I was an advertiser dream!

(as an aside, I'm also blush to realise I leave in the SE. I'd always put S before and was very confused that it wasn't an option)

Flightty Sat 31-Mar-12 08:03:41

I'm not single any more so can answer including DP, BUT I still found questions 10 and 13 profoundly uncomfortable.

Sorry. So many assumptions being made.

Flightty Sat 31-Mar-12 08:06:39

fwiw q 13: do you find now you are a mother that you have more say in the decisions about choosing a car.

More than what? More than before you were a mother, when your DP would choose the car? I'm not sure what that pertains to.

and q 10, do you find it difficult to deal with the financial transactions without asking your DP to do it all for you.

??????????????? really?

Flightty Sat 31-Mar-12 08:07:53

and I find salespeople in dealerships fairly patronising to everyone, men, women, just anyone who goes in there. Not that they are sexist but you couldn't select the 'patronising bastards' option, it had to be 'patronising and sexist bastards'. So I didn't comment on that.
