FSIDS - how about we all join together to do something positive?

As a mum and an Eastenders fan, I've been following the various threads on the current storyline - and have posted occasionally!

The purpose of this thread is not to start another discussion about the rights and wrongs of the storyline as that is being done elsewhere.

What I would really like is to ensure that some good comes out of all this. I would like to put my energies into something productive.

I was wondering whether MN would get behind a nationwide sponsored event to raise awareness and funds for FSIDS - maybe a sponsored walk?

I've not thought throught the detail but, potentially, those that can, could meet in London for a walk together and others could maybe do a mile (or however much they want) in their own locality.

Any thoughts or support for this?

Count me in! Smile

I'll gladly do a mile or as much as I can where I live.

And get the local press involved.

Didn't the Mile for Maude originate from MN?

In any case, I am in.

Yes - I didn't know about the mile for Maude until someone on here mentioned it. I don't know whether we oculd just resurect that again for a particular date later on in the year?

I had a look at the FSID website. The Mile in Memory as it is now called is in May this year.

Or perhaps we could do something else? Something really creative.

I've been out all day so thought I'd give this a bump :)

Anyone else interested in supporting this or with any other ideas on what to do?

Its a shame the tv companies couldnt do something more to publicise such organisations as FSID , SANDS, Miscarriage Association. They are willing enough to spend on the storylines how about them giving something back.....maybe if you hold your walk at london or certain locations some of the actresses / actors involved in these storylines or those who have themselves been through would lend their support and join in?

Hello! I work at FSID so thought I'd give you a bit more info on Mile in Memory - thank you so much to you all for your interest in supporting us, it is much appreciated! The official event date is 14th May but you can organise a walk for whenever is convenient for you. Organising a walk in your area is simple and we can provide you with all the information and advice that you need including a step by step guide to help you get started. The walk can be as big or as small as you like and it's only a mile long so the whole family can get involved. Alternatively you can take part in our flagship London walk or join a walk that's already being organised - visit fsid.org.uk/mileinmemory to view a map of confirmed walks so far. If anybody would like me to email or post you a walk coordinators' pack then you can get in touch with me on [email protected] or 020 7802 3210. Thank you! :)
