You may have seen in the press today, or heard Justine on the radio (2h 51m in) talking about the letter we've co-signed about libel reform (yes, I know we bang on about this).

We're asking for the new defamation bill - which is being drafted at the moment and should be published in the spring - to contain provisions that take account of the changes in communications that have come about with the internet. Particularly on sites - like Mumsnet - that host comments by third parties (ie you lot), for which we are legally responsible .

If you're on board with this one, do please remember to sign up to the Libel Reform Campaign petition, sit on your MP's head,* etc.

*May be a joke.

Libel laws in England are terribly restrictive and many journalists and scientists and random folk on the internet suffer because of it.

Free speech is a good thing to protect. Online and off.

I have every confidence that the Tories will listen Wink

I signed it.

I'm curious that this campaign has only had two responses.
