mixed hair, mixed texture, ADVICE PLEASE!

hey mums, i have a beautiful 18 month old daughter. she's mixed race (half white british/welsh and half black dominican/jamaican) thing is, is she has lovely managable hair. i guess she has what some see as 'good hair' her hair is dark with smoothe curls. ive noticed though that she has a 'kitchen' at the back of her head (her hair is alot more dry, is tangled, quite coarse) i dont know if thats more of an american saying but thats what ive heard it be called. anyway so i wash her hair the same as i do her brothers with 'naked' kids 2 in 1 shampoo. and spray in a natural detangler after. well my daughters hair still gets real dry especially in the back. ive put almond oil in it ive used dark and lovely beautiful begginings moisture oil. and it seems they are too greasey for her hair! can anyone recommend a good mixed texture childrens product line. baring in mind i am on a budget, dont want to be spending 10 pound a bottle lol i know some might think, why worry now shes only 18 months? but i know that mixed hair can change with age and it is very important to look after it from young. so any advice would be much appreciated thanx

My daughter is almost 4 now and is British/Jamaican. I only shampoo her hair once a week as it gets too dry otherwise. Other times I was her hair with conditioner only - if I'm feeling flush the Mixed Chicks conditioner, but usually the blue Herbal Essences one as it's so much cheaper! I sometimes add extra conditioner after finding, and leave it in. But your daughter might not need this if her hair isn't that dry after conditioning. It's been an education for me!

just wanted to add that I have the exact same thing!

my daughter is 22 months now and the majority of her hair is soft, tight curls...but in the back the hair she still has a sleep spot where the hair is very short/ and very dry and fuzzy. I kept hoping the hair above it would grow and cover the spot...but her curls stand straight out.

I do the same as apple--- only shampoo once in a while and just use the blue herbal essences. In the morning I use spray in conditioner.

But nothing is helping that spot in the back! not rally sure what to do...am just hoping it grows/ softens... I tried leaving conditioner in but it makes her hair crunchy which I hate. I am white but have curly hair myself and I hate the slick/crunchy feel/look!

Anyway..am offering sympathy. if you find a solution tell me!

Mix some Hot Six oil www.pakcosmetics.com/brand/Bronner-Bros/African-Royale/African-Royale-Hot-Six-Oil.html and water in a spray bottle. Use a wide tooth comb to detangle.

I would also recommend Aveda Brilliant Damage Control. It's about £12/bottle but I usually mix a third of it in a separate spray bottle (travel sized) with water and then re-mix as needed. One bottle of Aveda tends to last me 3-4 months.

My 18-month old DD is mixed race and she has similar hair to your DD. The front is soft ringlets while the back is more like mine and Afro textured. I rarely use shampoo because it's too drying. I wash her hair using loads of conditioner which I leave on for a few mins and I use a Tangle Teezer brush to get the tangles out.

Oh - and I apply Pink Sheer Hair Oil to keep her hair soft and manageable. It costs about £3 from Afro hair shops.

Would third the blue herbal essences
Have been trying the curly girl method with all sorts of different supermarket conditioners and not had a great deal of success.
Used the Herbal Essences today and her her has not tangled by the evening after it being down all day and she has had well formed shiny curls all day.
