New Year's Eve in Singapore

Really stuck over this one and trying to fulfil the hopes of x2 separate visiting parties, both of whom want to be out and about (ie not a house party) but both with slightly different ideas. Is there a secret brilliant venue / idea / party that goes on that would shut everyone up make for a lovely evening?

Foam party at siloso beach? Grin

There is a huge fireworks display near Marina barrage. Go during the day, park the car and take a taxi back home. Take another taxi to barrage with picnic, champagne etc in the evening. there is normally some sort of free entertainment and a good atmosphere. The taxi relay bit means you can get home in in your own car and not have to wait 3 weeks for a taxi. Parking in the evening is a nightmare too apparently. The novelty of picnicing outside under the stars on New Year's Eve is normally enough for most guests from frozen Europe.... Had planned to book a room at marina bay sands but when I called up, they laughed at me, saying they had been fully booked for months.

We don't normally do New Year's Eve these days (those words alone make me feel ancient!) but lots of the hotels and restaurants offer dinner, drinks and dj til the early hours, depends on what you are all looking for.

Oh dear, trying to please two different groups on NYE will be a nightmare, NYE in itself is usually an anticlimax, right?!

Sorry don't have any good ideas, a house party is usually great for us, and Butterflies your idea is great but then who gets the short straw and has to drive home ?!

That'll be my dh with the car keys Xmas Wink. Alternatively offer a house guest the unique and unforgettable experience of driving in singapore in the wee small hours ... (You wanted something different!)

How about the rooftop bar at Kinki at Customs House?
We had a great NYE last year doing what Butterflies suggested, but we had an easy dinner at the Makansutra Hawkers place near the Esplanade Mall and then saw some free music and street performers along the Esplanade to pass some time.
If you go in earlier (i.e. a few days before) you can write your wishes on the floating balls they put in the water - it's nice to be there on NYE and imagine your special wish floating on the water! I don't think you can do the wishing balls on the night. x

We're booking a pool lounge with friends as Tanjong Beach Club and then somehow trying to get off Sentosa in the early hours!
