Hi all, my sister is living in Melbourne (since May) and having her 2nd baby. SHe is worried and tense about the baby arriving early and small as her first did and I am trying to persuade her to do some relaxation therapy. I did hypnobirthing in the UK and found it really useful.. Do any of you have any ideas for stuff to do in Melbourne? She won't do yoga and is not very receptive to my suggestions (naturally!) plus her no.1 is only just a year old so she is focussed on her as you would be.

So I am in Oman, she is in Oz, our mother is in the UK. Any tips?

Thank you. xx

Hi EllaBel

I am in Melb, with a 21 month old and pg with my second, due end March. I have been doing a really great physiotherapist-led class which is basically a combo of pilates, cardio and strength. I go once a week and it's been brilliant, not least because you also get to meet other, friendly expectant mums and have a good old chat. The same women tend to go each week with new ones joining and old ones leaving all the time as people have their babies! While it's not purely relaxation based I always feel so much more relaxed and also energised afterwards. Where does your sis live in Melb? The class is in Ascot Vale. Maybe you could suggest she looks into a local physio clinic that does pg pilates like InStride (who run this one) and also try Back in Motion - who another pg friend of mine uses. If she's not a yoga person this is a good alternative which actually gives you a good workout and the attendant exercise rush!

Thanks for that - I'll see what she says. I was thinking of something more therapeutic than physical - however I know the attendant benefits!
Very grateful for your advice! She is in Mount Waverley and is due just after you. So wish I was nearer. Emily

Hi I am in Mount Waverley too and arrived here in August. I think the Monash Gym in Glen Waverley does classes etc which might be worth a look. They also have a hydrotherapy pool and offer massage etc. Not sure re pregnancy though so she would need to check. My DS is 4 and he was small and prem when born - so I know what she is feeling. If she wants a chat or to PM me then pls let me know!

blondness - thank you! I'll put her onto it and let her know you are there to chat to. Too kind!
