Neighbour who has a business electroplating metal has an overflow tap on his properties outside wall which runs into my garden (this is just at my garden boundary). several of my conifers have now died because of the liquid he deposits. I have reported this to environment health - no help - said they'd monitor him and analysis the soil - but he still does it.what can I do. I don't want to have a blight on my property has I'm putting it on market in few months. Really Really upset. Thanks for any help.

It is illegal to let any corrosive substance seep into the ground where it might get into any mains water pipes or water table.

Is he legally operating a business from home?

Have Environmental health been around yet?

Contact the environment agency too, and your water board - there are water bylaws that he is probably infringing.

Also try the Health and Safety executive - cant remember the extent of their remit and when things are passed to local council but I would cover all bases.

absolutely agree with messymissy - do ALL of the above - this is illegal and he needs to be stopped - get to work and don't be scared of contacting these people - that's what they are there for.
