Just over a month ago I contacted social services for details of everything that's on Dds records that they've got to try and work out what the reasons were behind dd not being allowed to see her dad. I was a minor at the time so my mum represented me but refuses to discuss it without a argument. They have my identification as security and have said they have 40 days to send me a copy of what they have. It's gone past 40 days and I've not heard a peep from them. Should I call them and chase it up?

So, is it an application for information under the Freedom of Information Act that you've asked for? And it's information about your daughter, but you don't know why she isn't allowed to see her dad (your ex partner)?

Sorry if I'm getting the wrong end of the stick, but is that correct so far?

Yes that's exactly correct!

OK, then the thing to do is to write them a chaser.

How come you know nothing about it?

Seems a bit strange to have no idea, this is her child's father. - just wondering if it may open a whole can of worms best left unopened!

It may well open a can of worms but only Dds dad knows I'm doing this and is happy for me to do so. I wasn't allowed to make the choices and there are questions left unanswered.

You'll be surprised at how good social services are at keeping secrets

Does dd see her dad now? Still don't understand why dds dad can't/won't tell you why?
