How long did it take you to conceive your various children?

(24 Posts)

We're currently ttc #4. 1-3 were all pretty quick, but this one's taking longer. I was wondering if anyone else had had the same? Obviously we're older, more tired etc. I asked on Conception, but it felt a little insensitive.

Previously:

DS1 (when I was 26): one month trying
DS2 (aged 28): 2 months
DS3 (aged 32): 10 weeks.
DC4 (aged 34): 6 months and counting.

We have 4. For us no.3 took the longest!

DD1 - 1 month
DS1 - 0 months, not trying and was accidently concieved when DD1 was only 3 months !
DS2 - 8 months
DD2 - 1 month

I was getting to the point with no. 3 that I thought it was never going to happen, especially since the first 2 had been so quick! As soon as we stopped making an effort to conceive a baby it happened! Good luck, hopefully things will happen soon!

dd1 - (34 years) 18 months following infertility investigations. Sadly we lost her the day she was born.
dd2 - (35 years) first month we tried, just after we lost dd1
dd3 - (37 years) first month we tried
dd4 - (38 years) first month we tried
dc5 (looking very much like it is ds1 - 40 years) first month we tried.
I'm thinking of being sterilised during this c-section. Of course I would love another one (or two), but not quite sure how we'd mangage, if our luck would run out etc etc. My consultant says the risks of getting pregnant after sterilisation is one in 600. I have been trying to work out how often I would have to have sex each week to have sex 600 times and see if I fall pregnant again before I turn 45! hmm

ds1 was a one of unprotected sex when at uni blush

then decided to try for dc2 got preg first month, miscarried and got preg with ds2 before having another period.

ds3 again first month of trying.

ds4 first month of trying.

dd first month of trying.

so i think dp and i are a very good match, i am youngish tho, just turned 33 so i guess age was on my side.

anyway as we got preg so easily each time we wont be taking any chances!

Ooh, I thought this thread had died a death.

Thanks for all your answers!

We're still ttc, but with a move to the US possible in the summer, it would be really bad timing if I'm pg now.

ds1 one off accident - I was 14 blush

dd1 - 1 month

ds2 - was bf, and didn't even realise i was pg til I was 17 wks blush

ds3 - 11 months (had developed pcos by this point)

dd2 - didn't actually "try" but just let nature take it's course after ds3, because we wanted another, after having a big gap between ds2 and 3, and ended up with a fiteen month gap smile

cazboldy Sat 10-Mar-12 21:23:20

should say that by one off, i mean a condom failure ( and subsequent MAP failure!), not that it was a one night stand...... was actually with my now dh smile
