Wondering if someone can help me think logically. Due in dec - don't know the sex........despite wanting to!

I have 4 at the moment, 3 girls aged 9/9/7 and a 5 year old DS.

I have a 3 bed house - 2 v large doubles and a small single (but will fit full size single bed and wardrobe). Currently DDs in one room in bunks plus single, DS in small room and me in the other.

Baby will be in with me probably for a year! But then if a boy I'm thinking could go in new bunks in the single with DS - but what would I do if a girl? Do you think swopping the single in the girls room for bunks would be ok?

This is really just for sleeping. Have more room downstairs and huge garden!

Girls get the largest rooms, two in each. Boy stays in single. You (dp?) have bedroom downstairs.

Don't sleep downstairs if you have gas boiler/fire down there though.

I would do the 2 sets of bunks for the girls,

I wouldn't worry to begin with. My ds and dd1 happily shared a bedroom until they were 7 and 5 resepctively, and actually I separated them rather than them wanting to be separate, they would happily still be sharing, which would be ds, dd1 and dd2 all in together. We have a small house too, and in the future I am planninjg to move ds downstairs to one of the "reception" rooms.

I shared a room with my DB until we were 12 and 6. It wasn't an issue at that age.

Do you have anywhere upstairs that could be curtained off. My friends has 4 (like us) and in her 3 bed house, as the age gap was large between youngest and eldest, she curtained off an area on the landing that was safe and put the babies cot there. It gave her a bit of thinking time on the arrangements and eventually the eldest and youngest shared but only once the youngest slept through the night and could be trusted with the older ones stuff. We had 4 in a 3 bed last year and we put the youngest DD in the small room and gave 2DSs (7&6)and our eldest DD (9) in one room but with a curtain up separating the boys from the girl and strict guidelines on privacy and space rules. DD was at the end of the room and had a corridor marked with tape down the boys area where she could walk to get to her area, you were not allowed in the others area unless they invited you and you had to either be quite or leave the room if you were awake when others were sleeping (waking a sleeping sibling earned you minus points on the reward chart). It worked well for us, better than trying to control youngest DD who just wanted to touch everyone elses stuff

My daughters friend still shares with her brother, she is 14 he is 17! Still, if it works for them.
I have 5 DC and 3 bedrooms. 2 very big and one small-medium. DH and me have the small room. DDs (2 oldest) share a big room and DS's (twins) share a room also. DS3 is 2 and still in our room. When he is about 4 will go in to share with them. We have a triple bunk so the boys can share that.
Mine love sharing overall so it shouldn't be a problem!

we converted our loft as theres 5 in 3 bed house 2 boys 3 girls (the eldest is now at university but her room (the loft) is still hers) but its 2 young girls (3 and 5) in bunks and the boys (7 and 8) in bunks in the other room, both rooms are medium, the boys room is smaller than the girls and can only fit bunk bed and wardrobe, we did have 2 single for the girls but there was no play space for them.

so if you have a girl, definitely two bunk beads, (both of our bunk beds are converted cabin beds) and if its boy, bunk bed in DS's room, but while there young you can have the baby in with DS it just may have to be rearanged when pubity hits, but as said above, sometimes there's no problem with teen boy and girl sharing smile
