That's it really.
Good investment or not?
What exactly would one be investing in?

I think if you did it years ago it might have been worthwhile but not if you bought them now, I don't think you'd end up a millionaire

FB shares for the first time available for sale to Joe Public.
DH is convinced the IPO is way way way overpriced and I shouldn't buy any.

I would go with Not! The fact that Facebook has just released shares seems to ring alarm bells for me. Perhaps Facebook have now reached their peak and are looking to make a large sum before selling up?
Seems to be a lot less popular these days, even my friends who used to make several posts a day are only posting once a week or so, my news feed is mostly taken up with horoscope apps and ' check who is looking at your profile' spam, with the occasional parson trying to flog something they own or advertise something for work.
That could be because it's summer, or it could be that fb is going down the same route as myspace and other things like msn chat in that they're used by about 1% of their peak members and users.
only a few months ago I was saying fb would never die but it only takes something better coming along for it to go downhill.

No, I think people are growing increasingly concerned with how / when / who will use this data in years to come, re security concerns.

No, it's peaked. Look at AOL, Bebo and all the rest that were once huge but have fallen by the wayside.....
