that pirate sex thread must be years old by now

they could have at least mentioned visiting the oxo tower surely

heh heh

SuSylvester Sun 21-Mar-10 09:41:43

thank god
i hate all that " ooh arent we naughty " crap

Lionstar Sun 21-Mar-10 09:42:05

Talk about wilfully getting the wrong end of the stick. Sheesh. And if that isn't going to attract a whole new level of voyeur ...

SuSylvester Sun 21-Mar-10 09:43:05

good point at the bottom in tehcomments

i think the times must love us or soemthing

< heads off to grassy knoll>

SuSylvester Sun 21-Mar-10 09:44:11

that was always the point
the sex threads dilute the purpose of the site.

digusted of tonbridge wells.

BUT you arent allwoed to criticise them for fear of being a prude, uptight etc

its a bit like moaning about Jordan and being accused of being jealous

<hits floor with increduulity>

Hassled Sun 21-Mar-10 09:45:32

"One member, with the username Hassled, warned: “Every weirdo pervert on the interweb will swarm towards Mumsnet like moths to a flame and get their vicarious thrills by reading our Friday night discussions. We will be like a magnet for nutters.” "

ARGH!!! That was on a thread where someone asked why MNHQ had vetoed ShowOfHand's request for a sex topic, and I was explaining their concerns. It's not what I actually think at all - I think a Sex Topic would be a good thing, if only because it would be easy for me to hide it.

Bloody hell - first and last time I will be quoted in The Times and I feel misrepresented .

And the rest of the article is lazy and dull. So there.

tethersend Sun 21-Mar-10 09:50:41

MN's "wholesome image?"

Must have missed the memo on that one.

OhFuck Sun 21-Mar-10 09:52:49

Before I've even started they've amused me greatly with the picture at the top "Young couple in bed". Snappy caption or what.

foxinsocks Sun 21-Mar-10 10:00:33

<peers out at the grassy knoll>

YanknCock Sun 21-Mar-10 10:07:44

what a stupid article

lazy, dull, just awful

tethersend Sun 21-Mar-10 10:10:05

I want to be a journalist when I grow up.

HoochieMommaLurve Sun 21-Mar-10 10:11:42

Slow news day

Lulumaam Sun 21-Mar-10 10:13:42

woooo! mentioning two joke sex threads.. brilliant, groundbreaking journalism, a pulitzer prize is surely a given....

Stop the Press! Women having sex with their husbands hmm

BenHer Sun 21-Mar-10 10:15:09

“Learn to spell and she will be eating out of your hand.”

Now that's what I call foreplay!

RockbirdisdrinkingGuinness Sun 21-Mar-10 10:17:46

Are they determined to make note of every topic we discuss then? They think we're above ourselves if we talk politics, dim witted if we talk about babies, harridans on AIBU and now we're slappers 'cos we talk about sex! Funny how they've never mentioned the Christmas Appeal, or the mnetters going to help Trin or the support for OJ. hmm

It's all a bit tiresome now.

tartyhighheels Sun 21-Mar-10 11:14:14

Personally, even without being a journalist, I know this is a non story when so much interesting stuff goes on here

I reckon in the longer term trins story will be picked up by a magazine....

[gazing into crystal ball icon]

foxinsocks Sun 21-Mar-10 11:21:04

i shudder to think of the threads this will trigger

this sort of article is just a side effect of being in the public eye (or courting it) innit <shrugs>

bit lame though

ABetaDad Sun 21-Mar-10 11:24:34

I predicted a while ago there would be an inevitable MN backlash. The media love building people up and then knocking them down. Hopefully the media will lose interest and move on after the election.

Not sure what is wrong with talking about male impotence by the way. It is a serious topic.

ShowOfHands Sun 21-Mar-10 12:45:27

All the worrying about my Friday Night Topic attracting the wrong sort, well lack of it is attracting mediocre and misleading journalism.

Pick your potato MNHQ.

DuelingFanjo Sun 21-Mar-10 12:51:41

ah well.....

who cares.

carry on.

BitOfFun Sun 21-Mar-10 12:58:02

That article must have been written as a joke by an MNer, surely? Just to take the piss out of 'journalists'. I can't think of any other reason.

RustyBear Sun 21-Mar-10 13:16:43

Strange choice of picture too - if the 'young couple' shown have just been having raunchy sex, he's clearly not very good at it....
