Rod Liddle's comments on men and faithfulness...

Can't help noticing the divorce wars going on between Rod Liddle and his soon-to-be ex/wife. God, this weekend they were in ALL the papers, weren't they? And have just been reading the beginning of wife's divorce diary at in-laws house. The one thing that really annoyed me was Rod Liddle's comment "Men are incapable of being faithful, and if they think they are they are deluding themselves."
It's one thing if he's incapable to stay faithful even on his own honeymoon (!), but to make these sweeping statements about other men is just ridiculous and wrong! I hate comments like that, as I'm on the one hand 100% certain that dh will always be faithful, whereas on the other hand I start to think then that maybe I'm a bit naive...

I've found Rod Liddle's article here and the Observer piece here . Apparently he was rumbled when his wife found a packet of viagra in his pocket. What an idiot.

Was just about to start a thread on this! Has gone way down in my estimation. Stupid, lazy, self-justification comments I think. Cor, bet new girlfriend will feel very reassured about those remarks.

Who's Ron Liddle?
Whoever he is he's an arse.
I don't think you're naive at all. My dh will also always be faithful I am completely sure. Not all men are the same.
And forgive me if I'm remembering wrong but I thought faithfulness was one of the marriage vows, so if you don't think you can manage it, don't get married.

He's a journalist and used to be editor of the Today programme.

The hairdo always aroused my suspicions about him. So glad I had no time to read the papers this weekend now.

I know a few men who I would place bets on always being faithful to their p's and that's a load of rubbish!! He's just trying to justify himself and the fact that he can't keep his own pants on by saying that all men cheat.

Don't think you're being naive emkana - if you expect the worst then you'll never be happy with your DH whereas if you trust him, you'll probably (and hopefully) never be disappointed.

Its all got very vicious hasn't it? Not sure if I admire his wife or not for saying "But its only because he's bloody famous that a 22-year-old girl is going out with him. I wouldn't have dreamt of going out with a 44-year old man when I was 22. I liked someone my own age with a nice taut body, not a flabby f**king beer belly"

LOL at Mrs Liddle's comments, how true!

Blackduck I've got no ambiguity about whether I admire her a not. Storming comment - and probably so true!

Does she have kids? Is she on MN? Is she One Of Us??

If so, good on you, girl.

My dp is faithful, I'm quite sure. Quite apart from everything else, the poor love is knackered

I'm gutted. Didn't know anything about Mr Liddle except that I always thought he was quite fanciable. Obviously he's struck off the list

Really, you thought he was fanciable?
I always thought he is one of the ugliest men I have ever seen.
Did like his voice, though, when I heard him on the radio.

I think he is very unattractive physically but 'intellectually sexy', if that makes any sense at all.

At least, I used to think so. Now I just think he's a lying, cheating, self-important twat

God, Rod Liddle's a tosser. He's gone way down in my estimation too as a result of this.
