"A new mandate to NHS England is due to be published following the completion of the Spending Review, to take effect from April 2016."

We have ONLY TILL THE 24TH NOVEMBER to comment on this mandate (link below).

It's not well publicised (surprise surprise), as the article below points out:

If you want to have your say, get in there now. Don't let them sneak it past us!

Less than four weeks for a consultation of the entire population?

Good job it's not about anything important, eh?Hmm

Thanks, OP. I'm sitting down to read it now.

Er, is it just me, or is that document so vague as to be almost meaningless?

It just seems to say: "We're gonna do Vagueness that we're gonna do. That's all right with you, yah?"

I could be wrong, but it feels like a PR exercise.

The sort where three years down the line they introduce something nasty and then say, "Oh but you can't complain about Slaughter of the New Born: it's covered by "make efficient use of resources" in §5.2(iii), and you didn't object to that when you had the chance.

Or am I just a hoary old cynic?

Well that's been well publicised. Presumably they are trying tronget all the responses to be along the lines of "please privatise the NHS".

Why does the time frame not surprise me?! Hmm

Thanks for bringing this to my attention - will read later.

PausingFlatly, I suspect you are a realist….

Slightly longer thread here: AIBU to ask how you feel about the NHS?

I'm moving to that one.

Question One: "Do you agree with our aims for the mandate to NHS England?"

What the fuck? What mandate? What aims, exactly? Jeez!

Am off to find somebody who's written anything sensible about what this questionnaire's supposed to be asking. I may be some time ...

Aha. www.opendemocracy.net/ournhs/caroline-molloy/dont-want-government-to-let-nhs-die-one-crucial-thing-you-can-do-now

Am still wading through the mandate itself and trying to formulate answers. Anybody found something easier to understand?

Post that on the other thread too?

I'll look at that tomorrow - thanks.

I only found out about it yesterday. When I sent my form, it bounced because their mailbox was full Hmm

It did work when I tried an hour later.

Like many here, I found it hard to comment since it was all so vague, but I tried.
