I thought it was a very good opportunity to talk to DD about how the people who might harm you aren't always "strangers". I leapt on it as a teachable moment.
I said similar to BeerTricks.
DS is 10 too and we just say he was a TV presenter when we were his age who hurt children and it's all being discovered now.
It's an tricky situation for you but I suppose at least it's an opportunity to bring up the subject of adults behaving inappropriately to children, and what the child should do about it.
Anybody got any advice or know what to say to a 10 year-old daughter who's asking who Jimmy Saville is?
