Two year trolling by teenage girl

Troll turns out to be teenager

She pretended to be a mother whose 6yr old daughter had cancer in a thread that ran on for nearly two years.

Munchausen by Internet- given the amount of trolls there are even just on here, if this is a real condition then it's a lot more common than I would have thought.

I don't think this woman can be called a Troll, I think there's some serious mental health issues here. Trolls wade on, inflame and watch the reaction (usually). To put this sort of effort in for 6 years goes past trolling.

I don't get 'serious MH issues' from people who carry out these sorts of cons. Certainly they have to be attention-seekers to get satisfaction out of fooling everyone, but history is littered with hoaxes, some more creative than others. Often just for the fun of it. Think 'Gay Girl in Damascus' who turned out to be an Edinburgh student called Tom. Anonymous blogs and message boards just make it a lot easier to stick to a fictional story without the need to be especially malicious, unlike real life Munchausen-inspired con-artists who are required to keep a real child looking/being sick enough to convince others to stump up cash or get their sympathy.
