How shocking! I wonder what will happen to her now?

Selks Sat 11-Feb-12 17:37:41

It's beyond awful. She's an adult now...has been held in those conditions (and raped) for ten years sad angry. Was trafficked in to the country for that purpose. Has never gone to school, had friends, known affection......beyond comprehension.

I should hope now she will get plenty of support - a social worker as she will be a vulnerable adult, sheltered accommodation possibly, and hopefully psychological support. And I hope it is all kept away from the attentions of the press for her sake.

Hopefully there will be some sheltered or supported accommodation, Selks. Not only has she been completely isolated but also her deafness will have made it much harder if not impossible to pick up any English.

Poor poor soul. hope they lock the bastards up for good.

nailak Sat 11-Feb-12 17:45:54

i dont get it, how did they bring her in to the country? to adopt from abroad you stillneed to be approved by ss?

Selks Sat 11-Feb-12 18:11:29

She was brought in to work as a 'domestic servant' which is legal providing someone is over 18. So effectively she was trafficked in under false pretences - maybe a false passport. God knows how they got through immigration control......questions are being asked about this as something clearly went wrong.

nailak Sat 11-Feb-12 18:34:40

i doubt a ten year old looks 18 tbh....

nailak Sat 11-Feb-12 18:36:56

and if she was a domestic servant how did they claim benefits for her?

Selks Sat 11-Feb-12 19:05:01

Obviously a ten year old will not look like an 18 year old hmm.....that's why the questions are being raised re border control / immigration......

To claim the benefits they probably told the benefit agency a pack of lies. The whole thing is a web of deceit anyway

Selks Sat 11-Feb-12 19:07:18

More info here.....

nailak Sat 11-Feb-12 19:20:49

is there any truth in the claim that" his is from the prosecuter, and therefore not estblished facts as the defendents can counter some of these claims. So i wouldn't make judgement base on what he said."?

Selks Sat 11-Feb-12 19:28:11

Eh?

nellyjelly Sat 11-Feb-12 19:31:47

Horrible.

nailak Sat 11-Feb-12 19:36:46

someone on another forum said that

Selks Sat 11-Feb-12 19:38:25

oh

Selks Sat 11-Feb-12 19:39:41

Well it's part of the British justice system that they will be allowed to defend themselves against the charges.

Mumfun Sun 12-Feb-12 17:55:46

Shocking and awful. Words really fail me.

suburbophobe Sun 12-Feb-12 18:08:55

Horrendous! That poor poor girl....

suburbophobe Sun 12-Feb-12 18:12:01

it is thought she was aged between 10 and 12 when she came to the UK, allowed in by immigration on the basis she was to work as a domestic servant.

How is this possible? How can a 10-12 year old be deemed o.k. to work as a domestic servant FFS!

IQuiteLikeVodka Sun 12-Feb-12 18:15:18

Does anybody know how she was found?

LynetteScavo Sun 12-Feb-12 18:16:23

I wonder how this came to light. The whole thing is horrific.

Thistledew Sun 12-Feb-12 18:20:44

"I should hope now she will get plenty of support - a social worker as she will be a vulnerable adult, sheltered accommodation possibly, and hopefully psychological support."

I wouldn't count on it, TBH. Since the ratification of the European Council on Trafficking, she will be entitled to leave to remain in the UK for one year as a "reflection period" but after that she, like the vast majority of victims of trafficking in the UK will have to make a claim for asylum or protection under the Human Rights Act. If she has family in Pakistan, it is likely that the Border Agency will expect her to return to them.

Selks Sun 12-Feb-12 19:08:25

Yeah you're probably right Thistledew. A vulnerable adult being made to return to a country that is likely to offer her little support and maybe to family or people who abused her in the first place.....

Just awful. What a life.

AlpinePony Sun 12-Feb-12 19:14:16

I did read one report which suggested that she shows above average intelligence and resilience which I hope is true and I hope her life can become better.

Wtf is wrong with this country that we allow people to import servants, no matter what their age!? sad
