Apparently they're more intelligent than right wingers

Never thought I'd see the day

claig Fri 03-Feb-12 12:29:28

Don't be suckered by this.
This sounds awfully like politically correct hogwash.
If you need proof that it is hooey, juts look at the difference between the majestic minds in the Cabinet and the shallow marshmallows in the Shadow Cabinet.

Next, they'll be telling us we only have "50 days left to save the planet".

Iggly Fri 03-Feb-12 12:31:08

PMSL at claig's panicked response.

tethersend Fri 03-Feb-12 12:32:02

claig!

Did you just slag off the DM?

shock

wink

claig Fri 03-Feb-12 12:32:23

'Never thought I'd see the day'

The Mail often does this. It likes to give its readers a laugh while showing up the pomposity of the self-deluded progressives.

tethersend Fri 03-Feb-12 12:33:36

Phew. For a minute there, I got scared...

How are you, BTW?

claig Fri 03-Feb-12 12:37:17

Fine thanks. A laugh a day keeps the doctor away and the progressives at bay.

LeBOF Fri 03-Feb-12 12:37:40

That would make sense, in that the default non-thinking position will be slightly conservative, through lack of imagination. Then you've got people who use their brains a bit, on the left and the right. And then you've got nuts who believe the Royal Family are lizards and that Beyoncé is a whore of Satan I'm looking at nobody in particular here.

So yes, more reasonably sane and intelligent types will be left-wing. Unfortunately they are not necessarily in the majority, and they aren't running the country.

Iggly Fri 03-Feb-12 12:38:07

•"majestic minds in the cabinet"

<wets self laughing>

Ciske Fri 03-Feb-12 12:40:14

I can't believe the Daily Mail published this - is there an aggrieved editor somewhere having a really good laugh?

I loved this in the comment section:

Let's be honest, if any of us had some intelligence anywhere near half way decent, we wouldn't be reading this rag would we?

Hassled Fri 03-Feb-12 12:42:18

claig - you're on fire today grin.
But with your "majestic minds" you've managed to conjure up a mental image of Govey, naked apart from a crown, sat on a purple velour throne. So cheers for that.

www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/jan/27/bash-poor-wave-flag-tory-trick?INTCMP=SRCH interesting piece covering the way that the tories are exploiting this.

Hassled shock <bleaches brain>

Skewbald Fri 03-Feb-12 12:47:40

Claig can brush this off as being a bit of a laugh, but I think it could be more serious. We've already had Charles Moore of the Telegraph defecting to the left. Surely this is the final nail in the coffin for right-wing ideology.

Except of course there will always be plenty of not-very-bright, rather fearful people about to carry on the good work grin

Hassled Fri 03-Feb-12 12:49:56

That's a fascinating piece in the Guardian. Labour need to get their bloody act together and they need to do it pronto.

claig Fri 03-Feb-12 12:51:11

'Except of course there will always be plenty of not-very-bright, rather fearful people about to carry on the good work'

yes, unfortunately there are still lots of well-meaning people who have been frightened by the tales of apocalyptic doom and climate catastrophe, peddled by some plutocrats and progressives

WibblyBibble Fri 03-Feb-12 12:54:53

"A laugh a day keeps the doctor away and the progressives at bay."

Well, I guess the NHS should be paying you for your services, shouldn't they?

I know the Mail is well known for their PC-right-on-lefty attitude hmm but I'm not sure you can define 'progressives' objectively seeing as it's anyone beyond a neanderthal from where you stand.

claig Fri 03-Feb-12 12:55:25

'Labour need to get their bloody act together and they need to do it pronto.'

The panto season is over, the election was won, there's no more room for the Lone Ranger and Tonto.

Skewbald Fri 03-Feb-12 12:56:33

"peddled by some plutocrats and progressives" ha ha ha. Obviously by "some plutocrats and progressives" you mean "the overwhelming majority of the world's scientists".

Iggly Fri 03-Feb-12 12:57:03

"the election was won"
Er....

Trickle Fri 03-Feb-12 12:58:52

In tomorrows DM

'Higher IQ gives you cancer' wink

Skewbald Fri 03-Feb-12 12:59:47

Oh lord, have just seen Hassled's image of Govey. You forgot to mention that he's clutching a copy of his special bible.

tethersend Fri 03-Feb-12 13:02:34

grin Trickle

Iggly Fri 03-Feb-12 13:08:01

Or Skew his special edition has been strategically placed... <apologises to any I've offended>
